Big Log

This is the sort of set where you should think to yourself - yes, good idea, nice capture, but one photo would have sufficed. But No - each one has its own merits and qualities, I don't know whether your processing has limited the colour palette or whether it's completely natural - but it works brilliantly.

Thanks all for detailed thoughts and comments on these... it was the possibility of dark and different worlds that stopped me in the first place... some of the knobbly bits looked like maps to me, others like mini kingdoms as seen from the air... and others rather gave me the willies... the faces (inc The Scream) came only on close inspection (in reality they're less than an inch or so high)... have really enjoyed the project and will do more with it I think...

But a super set.

These are great, 5,7 and 11 for me are the most interesting as I can see more 'faces' in these than the remainder of the set.

However, all of them are very good, the only one I'm not sure of is number 10, I don't think the shallow focus works too well on this one.

I'm always impressed by your 'photographer's eye' Bill, you always find interesting subjects and interesting ways of framing / presenting them.

Great set. Think I prefer the all in focus shots, rather than the narrow depth of field ones.

Reminds me of Edvard Munch's Scream paintings.

Thanks again all for thoughts and comments re these... Richard, yes the Munch "feel" was very much what I had in mind... David, thanks for kind words... know what you mean about no 10... that was one of the ones I shot with the Tilt/Shift, which I like for what it can do in terms of isolating planes of focus and its sense of "otherness" if you see what I mean, but am not sure yet sure how it fits into this particular project... all will become clear I'm sure...

Only just seen these - a lovely set of images; my sort of images. As per Richard, i prefer the all in focus shots as well. Nice work!
