Watercress Line

I have been wanting to photograph a steam train for ages and never quite got around to it, so yesterday, on the way to South Downs we decided to explore the Watercress Line. Started of in pouring rain but it got nicer towards the afternoon Had a great time running around with the camera trying different angles. Started of in pouring rain but it did get better after a while with the clouds providing a nice backdrop.

CC welcome. Thanks!

Well done. I like the chap you've caught in the window, the 'old gent' straight out of the Railway Children!

Shame you didn't come earlier, you might have caught the end of the morning freight charter with 76017! Luckily the rain eased and sun shone between 09:00 and 10:00. I like the sky above the Watercress lodges, and the wet coach rooves, I had to go to work after the charter finished, and got caught in the downpour at about 12:30

Thank you all so much. 7 is definitely my favourite. Taken from a bridge in Alton where we decided to catch the train first. It was worth getting soaked for.

To be fair this was all rather spontanous with no pre planning. We did not even know that Ropley is on that line. We stumbled upon on while trying to catch the train; luckily. Will definitely be revisiting over Easter as I'd quite like to get some early evening shots and read there is the ale train from Alton at sunset. Just saw your image in the gallery. Stunning as always

If we were staying in the UK longer, I can quite imagine becoming somewhat addicted to this.

Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

No.7 and the old gentleman are super shots wthout doubt.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

What a great set Magdalena, really hard to choose between them, the sky in 1 is fantastic and the steam certainly makes the others special, well done!
