Au contraire. Cycle regularly and you will live ten years longer! If my 72 year-old Mum can do it, you can, too! Of course it will feel easier once you're a bit more fit.Somehow, I don't think cycling is for me. This thing is likely to kill me. I did 70 miles today (north London to Box Hill and back). My only regret is that I don't take a camera with me more often. The main trouble is that a ride would take too long if I kept stopping.

Probably to stop the wives seeing everything going on there - it seems a very male forum .

Thanks for the encouragement Guys, but I think my cycling days are behind me... A long way behind me.... Back in the 70s, in fact!

Nah, that's not all that extreme really. The real hardcore nuts regard 70 miles as a mere warm up

Last time I got on a bike I fell off and dislocated my elbow. In a land of cyclists I am the one who walks everywhere. Yet I am still tempted by another bike. Maybe one with outriders next time, or a trike?

Ah yes, as an avid cyclist in remission, I admire the suicidal bravado of the recumbent cyclist. Especially when I come across them down a Cornish lane.
