Dublin for three nights

As the heading says, I'll be going over to Dublin next Sunday (25/07), for a training course. I'll be staying for three nights, travelling home Wednesday night.

I'll be travelling light, and plan on taking the Kx and Sigma 18-50.
My accommodation is located in the centre of the city, near the Trinity College I gather.

Can anybody recommend where I can go in the evenings, with the camera, within walking distance? I don't know Dublin at all, having only been there once over twenty years ago!

Also if I end up walking a bit, then naturally I'll be thirsty; is it true that I might have to sell the Kx to afford a pint or two
Any pointers to watering holes also appreciated.

Regards
Adrian

Well a jaunt round the Temple Bar isn't too bad, lots of brightly lit pubs if you can hold the camera steady enough, and theres also the Ha'Penny bridge a few minutes walk away along with a good view down the river Liffy (see my porfolio)
Drinks are extortionately expensive.

Given that the weather is windy and wet here at the moment - will it improve in the next week?

Does the Guinness Brewery tower open in the evenings ? You can get a good view from up there.

Dublin is a quite compact city as far as the inreresting and historical bits go. Pretty much all of it is within walking distance of Trinity.
O'Connel Street, Temple Bar, Trinity College itself and the River Liffey are all within a few hundred yards of each other.
The Guiness Brewery is worth a tour as well.
Bring an umbrella......

The area around Trinity and around the Castle are goood photographic-wise and for pubs IIRC.

Not been to Dublin for a few years, but if you have a few spare hours take a tourbus ride.

Well if its raining, evening street shots will look even better

As for the Guinness Brewery tower, I dont know about evening opening (probably will cos' its a bar) but I had an enormous problem with reflections, even holding the lens right up to the glass, and before the smart comments arrive that was the WINDOW glass and not the one holding my Guinness

Thanks all for the advice, all I need now is the weather, which at the moment doesn't seem very favorable; home from home

If you want a brew pub (and who doesn't?) there are two down-town: Messrs Maguire at O'Connell Bridge and The Porterhouse the other side of Temple Bar. Both are on the same side of the Liffey to where you are staying. Unfortunately the former has gone rather generic since it changed owners (well, I haven't been there in a while) and the latter can be crazy loud on weekends. But the drink is good.

Watch your gear carefully if you go out at night.

Thanks rparmar, I think I'll see how it goes with taking the camera out at night.
