Battery replacements: D-Li90 recommendations

Hi all, something everyone's surely got an opinion on?!?
I know this subject has been done before, but I have yet to find any recommendations on actual alternative brands, i.e. links or something.

With the K5-II a Pentax original looks to be in the region of £50. I just can't bring myself to spend so much, not unless it comes in a bundle with a grip or something. £30 I could go for.

My experiences:
Previously I had a K10D with both Pentax original and a "generic Chinese" battery. My experiences were that I would get approx. half the shots on the generic, So not great, but not terrible either. It also only cost a tenner or so.
Girlfriends Sony compact, we bought a cheap Chinese special, now that was a waste of money, I think you can get about 10 shots off before it needs recharging.

Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

This has been recently covered in the forum, and, as always, opinions are split. I buy Pentax batteries, someone else thinks it's a waste of money.....

You've had previous experiences, you know the answer!
Best regards, John

I got these a few months ago. So far no problems - I get more shots from a charge on a K-5ii than I ever did from the Pentax original. Longevity might be less (we'll see) but at a fiver each, including postage, I'm not that bothered.

I would recommend these ExPro batteries @ £7.97 each
I have used them in Pentax cameras, Fuji, Sony and Nikon, and honestly cannot tell the difference
And as far as i am aware, Pentax do not actually manufacture batteries

The customer reviews on this item say 1400 0r 1450 MAh compared to the 1850 originals. I try to go for ones marked same or higher such as my 2000mAh mentioned earlier.

I just purchased 2x Energizer DLi90 batteries for £13.90 per 2. Although only rated at 1500mAh they come with 2 year warranty and so far look a good buy. Maybe worth a search

This looks a good example of full power.link

I must say browsing the choice is much poorer than a year or two ago.

I can not find the 2 amp DSTE ones any more and the excellent Hahnel seem to have vanished. Perhaps Ricoh have put a stop to being undercut?

Wilf I can't believe how gullible you are. Knock off manufacturers will print anything on products to lure in people such as yourself They even print Rolex on £5 watches

Batteries have been covered and tested for years, there's even people on here that have tested them. The ebay ones are usually 1200mAh. Better ones 1400mAh.

Nothing comes near the 1860mAh Pentax original either in performance or price. The better cheap batteries offer value in terms of cost per mAh.

Haven't had any issues with the DSTE batteries bought 2 years ago....don't notice any difference in performance to the Pentax originals...

This is an interesting read over at DP review regarding battery capacities:
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2924664

I still cannot understand why only Pentax originals offer the best longevity, performance etc... I mean it is just a couple of AA's (or AA -like) cells in there right? And Pentax don't make batteries...

I guess my point is this: you can look at any of the reviews of replacement batteries, regardless of whether they are a known brand like Energizer, or some no-name Chinese, and you will always see the comment "failed after 2 years". e.g.

Here are the Hähnel available at amazon.de:
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B002OHCXV6?m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&tag=idealoversand-21&ascsubt...

These are well regarded, but even then there are a lot of negative reviews (enough to put you off??)

Pentax are always rock solid, I have never heard anything negative about their batteries... apart from the price that is

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F2A5JX6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_se... This is what I bought,. They last substantially longer than the original. Had no issues whatsoever. Have them for over a year now
