Battery depleted message . . . on my K10D + grip & battery

I was hoping I wouldn't get this issue on the K10D, but I have.

I was using the camera at a local fiesta today and the battery depleted message appeared. In *istD fashion, I turned off, turned on, and it all worked again and I had a full battery indication.

The same thing happened shortly afterwards and I had to remove the battery from the grip to get the camera working again.

Camera is set to use grip battery first, which it clearly did, but it didn't switch to the body battery automatically.

When I got home, the body battery was at full potential, almost 8 volts. The grip battery, was indeed depleted and measured only 6.5 volts.

I had exactly the same problem a few days ago.

I had to remove the battery from the grip, switch it back on, go into the menu and tell it to use body first and then I could put the dud back in the grip.

Very irritating as I fully expected it to automatically switch when the grip battery became flat.

Hopefully something that will be fixed in a future firmware release.
