I gladly welcome C & C's. Being foggy minded they really help me learn.

Hi Mark,
Welcome aboard.
You will have an interesting learning curve ahead as the DSLRs have so many more controls and functions than the old film SLRs. I am sure a grounding in film will stand you in good stead.
This forum seems very good natured and friendly compared with some of the others. I am sure you will feel at home.
Kind regards,
Archie

Over time I saw the *ist, and thinking of the old lenses, got fairly serious with the discount pricing of the K110D/K100D 2-lens kit, but never had the disposable at the right time.
Then a month ago I stumbled quite literally on what I initially thought, as did the camera shop it would seem, was a used 10MP K10D. It was an old school camera shop, albeit a Canikon specialist. So imagine my feelings when I got it home and looked up what a K20D really was, and reset the menu to 14.6MP! K20D in mint condition, less than 5K shutters, w/ 18-55II (not the DAL), 2 original batteries, remote, and a (hardly_worth_the_effort) instructional DVD!!! Esp. when I barely paid used K200D - that's w/ 2x 0's - pricing for it!!! Yeah! Wanna keep walking past that camera shop window now, but it's a ways away from here
A little friendly negotiation with a member here snagged me a good condition Samsung 50-200 for not too much, a trip to Costco for 1/2-price SDs, and I'm all set. (I'll manage with the old glass, and my early 283/285 and stands for the foreseeable.) Porsche tech on a VW budget, sweet
Now if the rain would just stop, I could pause from reading all these valuable articles, and get out there ...
BTW, I build websites just like the Pentax User site here, but with a few more features. Ideal for a camera club, etc.
