+1 for MSE.
I've used both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions recently, also since migrating from AVG-free.

I'll add another vote for MSE. Works very well - free, automatic updates.

I used to use AVG Free, but it used to slow my computer down considerably and took hours to do a complete scan. I recently switched to Avast Free. It's great! - Does a complete scan for viruses very quickly, updates itself several times a day... And best of all, It talks to me in a Pirate voice!. Yes, a little pop up window opens in the corner of the screen, and a Long John Silver voice says "Avast me hearties, yer list of dangerous sea-dogs, be safely aboard. Ha-Harrr!".
No man is worth his salt, who has not been banned from at least one Forum, and two Flickr groups.

I have the free version of AVG, but I am getting a bit paranoid lately; Freinds of mine have been having a few security issues and I am considering upgrading to the paid for AVG.
Do any of you good people have any personal experience in this area, please?
Or is there a better alternative to AVG ?
I am not a techy, and if I have a problem, for me, it's always huge and expensive.
All the gear & no idea.
