It's a CBF125. Won't impress real bikers.

Honda CBF125, let me see, built around the CG125 pushrod engine.

Super little power unit with outstanding reliability, been around for 36 or so years in one form or another. A lot of todays bikers will have owned or ridden one at some time.

So Honda stuck a fairing and style bits on a solid, reliable performer, what's not to like?

I know they say it'll only do 60mph, but we know better...

Good choice Gareth, enjoy and make sure it's bolted to something heavy when you park it up, although where you are you may not need to.

As I say, never owned one before so thought it was easiest to buy the most obvious thing.

I'll probably ride it for a couple of years then trade it I for something bigger. Just want to get the feel of riding (and falling off) for a while.

Doing my CBT on the 15th and picking it up on the 16th.

It will be the first time I've owned a brand-new vehicle. Kind of a nice feeling.

It was 25+ years since I'd ridden a motorbike when I bought a 125 about 3 years ago. Did my CBT and there was a bit of sales pressure at the centre for me to take lessons for the test straight away. I resisted the pressure and just learnt at my own pace for 6 months. Then I took lessons on a big bike (Yamaha 600). Took a total of 7 one hour lessons and passed my test. You'll find it easier to ride a big bike, as on a small bike you are forever changing up and down the gears. If you wanted, with a big bike you could leave it in 2nd all the time about town. You can pull away in 2nd and cruise in 2nd too.

As it happens I haven't ridden my Suzuki Bandit 600 for a year.

Nice choice Gareth, as Dave said. Many folk had one of these at some time including myself. Had it for years and the only problem was a main bearing that rumbled but an easy and cheap diy fix.

Graduated to a Suzuki GS 500 which was a real joy, (like a big brother to the Honda) cheap reliable and a lot of fun 21000 miles later along came the Royal Enfield Bullet 65. One pot of 499cc pure vibration. One firing stroke every other lamp post but more smiles per gallon than anything I`ve ever owned. It turns more 70 year old heads than any modern bike.

Just remember that everyone else out there is trying to kill you including wildlife. Have fun and many happy miles.
Enjoy life

Nice bike, ive owned a bmw r80 and a k100. currently using a 30 year old honda cx500e eurosport that i rebuilt about 4 years ago for riding to and from work , in the depths of winter i often think "well at least summers around the corner !" and we`re still waiting and autumns in the air.

austerity measures dave - we all have to feel the pain

Both the managers above me are off with stress since the so called 'new ways of working' were introduced.

I spend my time hiding or looking busy.
