Another pointless thread

Never been on Facebook and doubt I ever will. And whatever they say, it will be a flash in the pan and be gone in a few years.

I too joined up to "see friends/relatives" - weird world for people who have no real lives in my estimation - cancelled a few months ago as never went on and couldn`t see the point - I get enough pointless chat here - lol - and at least we all have something in common !
Don`t like the proliferation of photos or information from others who are not security conscious,nor do I want to be a "friend" of Daz or Cadbury`s chocolate.

I've never used Facebook, but I heard that an old woman posted a
message saying that she was going into the kitchen to make a cup
of tea! A few minutes later she posted another message
asking "Does anybody know what I went into the kitchen for"

I'm the same - I will NOT get on the Facebook 'thing'. I can't see what use it is - I have no interest in knowing what a friend of a friend of a friend etc is up to .

I keep getting stuff saying that I've been sent an invitation to join by so-and-so - whom I've never met but I do know of him . It gets worse when I get invitations from folk who are friends of friends of him and I've never heard of them.

Totally ridiculous . I'm facebook free

Er, talking about inane day-to-day things with people all over the world...

Maybe this is just the PU version and when it stops working due to being to long the replacement thread could be called 'Phased Book'!

Facebook, like many things else, is a tool that can be very useful. It can keep groups of friends and families in touch, it can be used to share images after parties and meetings and holidays, it can be used for keeping in touch across the world.

There's even a Pentax User Facebook page.

It can also be a disaster when people fall out or use it irresponsibly.

It's what we make of it.

I think I'll probably unFacebook myself, if I can work out how to. His Nibs is on it so I hear most of the news from him.

Youngest son called it the root of all evil, but then in Dutch - de wortel van alle kwaad. Wortel also means carrot, so now we call it the carrot, which about sums it up.
Oh and youngest son joined up the second he realised his partner was posting on there during her 3 months in Australia last year .

I can see why some people join it - and when Berit was in Australia and again now she is back there it's an easy way for everyone to hear what's going on.
But I don't do anything interesting, and already spend too much time online.

Just read an exciting article about the new canon due out in march and it's under £6000. I wonder what kit lens will be included to make it more attractive. I wont be queuing all night just to be first to get one

I would like to join Facebook but I dont think I would be able to cope with the all "friends" I never knew I had.

I have a facebook account which I mostly ignore.

I have a feeling that if someone were to bring out a
"CB Radio" App for the iPhone it would be a bigger
hit than Facebook/Twitter especially if it had say 50 mile
radius

CB Radio, I remember it well. I was always legal on the FM band. Had a base station and one in the car. Even my wife got into it and she is no techie. Is it still going? 10-4
