It's quite fun explaining to people that there was a KX which just had a needle to indicate correct exposure and which didn't use SD cards...
All the arty types seem to recognise the K1000, but the KX/KM don't register despite being more useful!

I thought I would have a browse around a well known auction site in the hope of perhaps acquiring a few cheap photography related items.
Where have all the sellers gone?
Gone to the Far East every one!
Have seen the site referred to by different names, fee-bay, greed-bay etc., perhaps another will be chinesebay.

There does seem to have been a drop in the number of sanely-priced BIN items from UK sellers of late. I think they're getting the idea that if you list as an auction instead it'll probably make more money. Witness the K 105mm recently where despite the seller being unbelievably obtuse with the listing (hinting that it had problems but not saying what they were) it still went for £60+!
I have a horrible suspicion that this might go the way of many collectible items. Utterly insane prices paid for some things for a few years, boosted by dealers who have a vested interest in keeping prices up. I've already seen the old 100mm f4 Macro leap from £80 to £150 as a standard BIN price in less than a year thanks to one infamous seller...

I think there's a 28mm f2 which does justify a hefty price, as it posesses 'Zeiss DNA'. Perhaps the sellers of 35mm f2 lenses see the price of those and mark their prices up accordingly, or maybe even hope a purchaser gets confused?
What is Zeiss DNA ? does it mean you can clone your own lenses from a few stem cells.I think there's a 28mm f2 which does justify a hefty price, as it posesses 'Zeiss DNA'. Enough of this photography talk! Anyone would think it was a photography forum
Just been looking at our logpile. A dismally small thing now. Luckily we only use the fire as extra heat, or when we are too mean to turn on the central heating. I shall have to look it to getting some more logs soon though. Last two lots came form friends who had lopped trees in their garden and had more wood than they would ever use.
Now to go out and enjoy some afternoon sun before roasting some veggies on the barbie and throwing a ribeye or two on it to accompany them.

I had the 'M' 35mm f/2 in the film days..... got rid of it when I found my zoom lenses were as sharp It's nothing special. I wouldn't even pay £50 for one today.

No problem with the log piles here, except that the weather is to warm to need the stove lighting!
Overheard in a bar last night "He spent three weeks in China on holiday and took 500 photos!"
the boss looked at me and said "Only500? that's a normal day when we're away!"
As an aside, has ebay changed the way it's listing are displayed?

In the spirit of getting away from the topic of photography, an anecdote from my past:Enough of this photography talk! Anyone would think it was a photography forum
When I was a lot younger people would ask my mum if I was working, to which she would reply, "No, he's on the trawlers".

Following up on How to Bath a cat a few pages back I was sent this a while ago which does answer two problems in one go.................
1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.
2. Pick up the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
3. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. You may need to stand on the lid.
4. The cat will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'power-wash' and rinse'.
6. Have someone open the front door of your home. Be sure that there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift the lid.
8. The cat will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom, and run outside where he will dry himself off.
9. Both the commode and the cat will be sparkling clean.
PS No responsibility is accepted for unexpected results
