You've seen British bread in a French supermarket? Good grief.
Whilst I would fight to the death to try and convince a Frenchman that Stilton beats all their 3,000 cheeses into a cocked hat, I wouldn't lift a solitary finger in defence of British bread. Ugh.
Mind you, Waitrose Continental-Style Wholemeal is great. The clue is in the name.

Well they were trying to sell it as British, complete with pictures of the inevitable Household Cavalry soldier in full ceremonial kit and a red Routemaster... But it was truly, truly dire! I think it was intended to be long life or something like that. Properly made British bread (as in, not using the accelerated raising process which supermarkets love) is fine.

Smoked salmon sandwiches and a glass of wine

Haunch of venison - oooooooh that will be good .

Devil's food - heart attack on a stick. A hot dog sausage coated in a thick cornflour batter and deep fried. Always served with a wooden stick stuck in it.

Just been irritated by a squirrel
Had gone into the kitchen and happened to look out of the window - and then through the window in the Sun lounge - and i was looking at an angle of approx 45degrees.
There, sitting on top of the fence , and fitting exactly between the slats on my sun-lounge blinds was
A SQUIRREL
a right cheeky alert grey squirrel who was watching me watch him!!
If I'd moved to grab the camera from the next room he'd have gone . Blasted critter was taunting me . I moved and he fled

Actually they aren't too bad, provided they are freshly made - a bit like a sausage roll. The batter isn't really like pancake batter, and is often spicy. It is yellow corn flour (like Polenta I guess) that is used.
Wouldn't want one too often though (actually once was enough:wink. It is something you have to try when in the US, like biscuits and gravy or Navajo Taco.
Have a great time with your girls Tony. I hope Emma has a very happy birthday.

Do you have to take the limbs off to fit the squirrel in the bun?

Yes, but serve them separately as an hors d'oeuvre. No point in wasting good meat.
