It was mentioned in the program, but I didn't take much notice because they were saying it took a picture of the thief and emailed it and my laptop hasn't got a built in camera. If you listen on the BBC iPlayer it will tell you the name.

If it was the article I heard, the man was a computer security expert having worked for governments and NASA amongst others and the laptop was a MAC.Algernon wrote:

well, the ring is off my 28, so now I need some real screwdrivers....
off into town tomorrow to go take a look, and then with a bit of luck I can take the 28, 50, 135, 24-70 and 100-300 to Tallinn next week.
I'm beginning to think I ought to sell the K10, though; it's hardly being used

You need a tripod and something like an ME Super with the split prism focus screen now. Oh, and a suitable landmark a decent distance away. I use a hillside which I would guess to be about five miles distant and which has clear line of sight from my bedroom window. Set the camera up on the tripod and adjust the lens until the two halves of the prism line up perfectly at infinity.

What? Edit..Is this in the correct thread or do we have a problem?

Indeed, I'm sure he was
I'll take a look and see just how good I can get this... I think I'm going to try using a clock tower that's around 800m away from the balcony over the yard - and LV with zoom seems tailor-made for this
Off out at lunchtime to see if I can find some screwdrivers... Wiha, preferably. Any suggestions on sizes? 00, 000?

My wall clock -[ about 4 foot tall ] has stopped working . It's wound up [ pendulum bob and 2 weights ] and stopped 2 days ago - I got it started again though it wasn't striking the hour and half-hour .
It stopped again at 4.20 this afternoon
Seems that the only decent clock-maker is about 25 miles away and doesn't make house calls
