I refuse to help them in their quest for total retail domination of the country - they represent all that is bad in British business and because of their "points system" probably very expensive to boot.
I would rather be an Asda Walmart man than join them and I can`t afford ( or have nearby ) Waitrose, dislike Morrison`s,find Sainsbury`s expensive too.Lidl,Aldi et al are of no interest - co-op has its moments, and I would rather go to Iran than Iceland !!

I would prefer to use independents - but when the local butcher's prices are higher than Donald Russell and his quality is nowhere near that , and we don't have a greengrocer then I really don't have much choice - ASDA is not within walking distance and it would involve 3 buses - not on
The butcher down at Morrisons is a butcher - he will cut meat the way you want it - or so I'm told Not explored there yet .
Sadly I can't afford Donald Russell's stuff except when there is a real bargain - then I indulge - last time was last summer - and half the stuff bought there is still in the freezer .

I think you committed a tactical error Tony. Had you avoided the child as I did you would be able to afford Waitrose. Saying that they are sadly going down market having developed their own "cheap and nasty" range at the expense of some of their nice things. I still think their business model is more ethical than other large businesses. It's a shame no-one wants quality any more.I refuse to help them in their quest for total retail domination of the country - they represent all that is bad in British business and because of their "points system" probably very expensive to boot.

We shop at both Asda and Morrisons, both have their merits, Generally its Morrisons but if we need to stock up on wine or the wife needs something to wear its Asda.
Morrisons tend to be better with bogof, there are certain pre-packaged foods we like and we tend to stock up the freezer when they are, Youngs extra large beer battered haddock fillets are a prime example

I like your new avatar Tony - very dashing .
I'll stick to WTD I think. All these new Avatars are confusing, but liven the place up no end.
With regard to the old lady - I bought a book for my grandson a couple of years ago at the Grand Canyon. Same story basically but with a Coyote instead of the old lady.
He loves it even though it is in English and I have to translate it as I read it.

Morrisons for me, Sainsbury's at a pinch but ASDA and Tesco I find too oppressive.
When it comes to beer shopping then it's Booths, they do some cracking£1 a bottle deals, infact I'm still drinking the remnants of the last foray before Christmas.
If I need to buy brandy though, I have to take a trip to Spain.

I'm not proud - I'll buy from whatever supermarket is convenient for me.
That is usually either Tesco or Sainsbury's as they are just off the motorways leading to the Channel Ports.
If I find a good farm shop the cool box gets stocked up with illegal meat. There is one not far from my sister-in-law in Kent - Romney Marsh lamb, and excellent beef and pork.
(Reminder to self - take two cool boxes in April :wink
When we lived in Wantage it was Waitrose and the local shops. I haven't been in a Waitrose for ages.
Here I shop at Appie (Albert Heijn) because I can walk to it. I can't stand our local butcher and we long since lost the greengrocer. We have a Lidl too within walking distance which occasionally has good British beer on offer. That is the only reason I go in there.
My son, on the other side of town, has an Albert Heijn, a good butcher, a baker, a greengrocer and a Turkish supermarket just two minutes walk from his house.
We have all the restaurants within staggering distance, he has all the good shops.

They can't be beat! Went into a Lidl in Tenerife... it was so spooky... everything was exactly the same as it is here!
I also love how Lidl expect you to follow your own initiative and find an empty box to use as a hand basket. Why they can't provide baskets I do not know!
