Blimey -!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! robbie_d - thought you were long gone and done - is Shropshire still there ?

The whole point of this thread is pointlessness thus it will be going for a lot longer my friend !!

Tony
Hi Tony.

Shropshire is still here, under heavy frost but still here!

Glad to see the pointlessness is still abundant!!

Not been around much lately due to lack of Pentax, but very intrigued by the K5 and Kr.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Hi TT and robbie - we never had much snow when we were in Nesscliffe back in 1972/3/4 at the Old Three Pigeons.

The mascots are my little lad/lady Cyril/Cyrille the Wirral squirrel who taps on the window daily for a hand feeding of peanuts in their shells.....we now have three "offspring" who are smaller chubbier and possibly males who have learned about the "open window feeding" trick !!

I will endeavour to produce some recent shots ASAP.

robbie see this thread p 319 for the "mascot" latest shot ! p309 for a couple more.

Did you used to have the Three Pigeons then Tony?

I don't live far from Nescliffe (Oswestry - born and bred) my parents live even closer (Dovaston).

When we were married in Torquay , the company said they didn`t want a married relief hotel manager - bye bye ! So we stayed with my sister-inlaw in Richmond for a few months, then Wembley and finally got the job of Chef manager & wife at the Pigeons.
It was owned by Ken Micah who also had the Albright Hussey at Bomere Heath. We had a very happy 2 1/2 years there before he "tested the market" !! and sold it for 4 times what he paid 2 years previously as sitting tenant - bye bye !!
Those were the days - power strikes/cuts - decimalisation - £25 per week joint salary and a bonus of £5 in hand if we had a good trading week ( cinema for 2 and two meals at the Berni Inn AND change ).No mains drains, street lighting or refuse collections, next door to a pig farm and 1 (empty) fire extinguisher ( pre 1974 regs ).
Oswestry market on a Saturday afternoon buying "duff" fruit for the fruit salad and the best cheeses I have ever tasted !!

Lovely place, lovely people, lovely memories ( especially Kynaston`s cave and potting pigeon for the menu with my BSA Airsporter ! )

Went back about 4 years ago - bit off the beaten track now - nice pate and strange to see the modernisation - we used to have Kevin Keegan and Robert Hardy and Percy Thrower as customers !

Memory lane eh ??

Hi Robbie! Glad to see you are still around.
Hope the reason you are no longer a Pentax owner is progressing well, and at a future date we will see some photos .
The 50-200 is being put to good use by my daughter in law. She is very happy with it!

I see Formula One is going to be even more confusing next season - not only Red Bull and Torro Rosso with similar livery but two Lotus teams, each sporting JPS colours.

All going well so far thanks Gwyn (touch wood), 30th January is due date so getting very close now!

No doubt there will be pictures aplenty, I will post some up (though they may not be on a Pentax...)

Glad the lens has found a good home. It's a very underrated lens and capable of some superb results.

Read your post just above and I for one am giddy at the thought of JPS livery returning to F1!

The JPS colours are what the cars had when I worked for team Lotus.

Halfway round the world at someone else's expense, great times.

and the colours that Ayrton Senna first drove under if my memory's correct.

I discovered yesterday that the XP mode in Win 7 does work, I've just spent the last hour playing Quake 4, ah the sweet pleasure in killing strog...

.. don't ask, just don't!
