get boots designed for cold and you should be fine. I like my ecco ones, the columbia ones before that were very good and I can still drive in these.

The Lowa boots I had before were absolutely awful on ice and snow.

Yep, but again we only have snowy conditions like that for about 2 weeks a year at most. I tend to buy decent outdoorsy shoes (think all terrain trainers) as they're comfy, but a bit more grip would be handy on sheet ice.

It is blowing up a fair old storm here today. Evening rush hour is predicted to be especially bad.
It was exciting in the woods I have to say - chunks of tree falling down all over the place.
I'm glad I'm not by my son though - his house is on the harbour in Harlingen and the wind is much stronger there. Not much between him and the Waddenzee, and not much between that and the North sea.

Time for some comfort food methinks. Cottage pie tonight.

s'OK 'Parched of Bromborough '

Bits of Scotland are very wild - particularly where the gales are preventing ships getting in and out of ports.

Hope your supplies get to you soon

high winds? it's just warm and rainy here. Was dark at 3:30, too.

At least part of the scaffolding is now down, I can actually see something out of the kitchen window for the first time since... April? Can't remember, it's too long

It's alternated between very heavy rain and lighter rain and very high winds all day here .

Thank goodness my nice decorator man got the timber treatment on the front porch and the back fence yesterday when it was actually dry all day.

The wind has finally dropped here, after wind speeds of up to 80kmph, and the rain has stopped. More tomorrow though, and the percentage of sunshine for the next two days is 0% here . More 80kmph winds expected tomorrow. My son is due to get 110+ kmph winds .

Got soaked walking the dogs, and it is like a quagmire underfoot after all the rain the last umpteen weeks. I nearly lost a shoe in a particularly boggy bit. At least I didn't get any bits of tree on my head.

Seriously fed up with it all, and it's not even winter yet .
