Sorry Gwyn, I wanted to know what shutter speed cameras like this have,

so I can get correct exposures and not waste too much film.

The tester sits behind the lens and measures, using a free programme, the length of time the shutter is open.

With that information I can then adjust the aperture to suit.

Only time, and a film will tell how useful the information will be.

We're giving the recipe for lamb that Tony posted a few days ago a try tonight.

Well, I say tonight, we'll be eating it tomorrow.

Meh. I have to use a Canon 7D for work as SRS won't send me a K7. BAH!

Forgive me, forum, for I will sin.. probably most of the rest of the week with €3ks worth of L 16-35, 24-70 and 7D toys. Damned video stuff.

Don't worry, if we have to do this regular, I'll be looking for a K5 with 16-50

On the bright side Bret, at least it's a good canon.

Not a crappy 450/500/550 trying to be a Pentax!

I've been doing that for a while. Mostly as I never seem to see any lenses I actually want to buy at prices I can afford!

DRAT and DOUBLE DRAT

Weather is not looking good for our Class's night shoot . We are meeting down at the Clyde at 7pm - will be just about pitch black by then .

Got the K-x ready last night - Tripod plate is now on the camera since I find it fiddly .

Got the small camera back pack ready - just the K-x and the P70 in it , Tripod is ready in the kitchen as I'm being collected at 6.30pm.

Have , as requested , sent SMS to tutor to remind him to put extra tripods in his car and got the reply that he has and has put in some torches as well. Sounds as if we will be doing some painting with light as well . Really don't appreciate that

Since it looks as if it will be wet anyone want to lend me a K7 ?

I now have a Spotmatic, It's a rather nice example too!

One question - is what I hear about the light meter not liking modern batteries true (it came with an adapter ring to fit a currently available SR41)? The metering seems sluggish compared to my KM and seems to be overexposing by half a stop or so when compared to the KX.

T-T have you got any plastic bags and elastic bands or tape? You can easily make a rain cover for the K-x and lens if you do.
Clear bags are good so you can see the display. Cut a hole for the lens and hold the bag in place with an elastic band (or tape - a lacky band is better though. Same with the view finder - cut a small hole for it, but hold the bag in place with the eyepiece. Either stick your hand up in the bag to operate or just hold it and press the shutter though the bag.

It will work for an evening at any rate.

Go enjoy it even if it is raining. Take a brolly to hold - once the camera is on the tripod you can hold the brolly over it with one hand while operating it with the other.

Looking forward to the results - it is an interesting looking bridge.

Although a wee dram may not go amiss by the sound of it.

I'll agree it's an interesting bridge , I don't mind taking piccies of it at some point - and it is well lit up but this sort of thing just doesn't appeal to me - maybe I'm just getting old

I'll go and hunt out a few placcy bags , and there is a BIG unbrella going with me - never mind the K-x not being waterproof - I'm not

If it's really the way it has been over the last few days , the K-x will NOT leave its bag and we will be drinking in the hotel bar I suspect [ seems that as long as we have a drink there we get free car parking ]

DM, I use any modern battery that will fit, with a bit of plastic tag tie around it to hold it in place, in my spotties.

Metering seems to vary from camera to camera but modern films don't seem too bothered by it. The fact I home develop helps as well.

Good luck in the rain TT.
