Oh my 'Gord', there's some hugly fella in the bathroom mirror. He just stands there and mimics me, but at least I have the better physique! Its a warm, slightly overcast and no wind kind of day so must get the K20D prepared and find the race mentioned above. Now find some clothes and off we go.

Currently waiting for Autoglass and hoping it doesn't rain. I'm sure they were down to come at 10am, got a call at about 11am saying they'd be here at half 2. Skies are not a particularly friendly shade of grey here.

Of course, it wasn't raining during the hours they were originally booked to come. Just have to hope the weather holds!

Chucking it down here . Two very wet dogs and a soggy husband have just returned from their walk in the woods. I like weekends. Someone else gets soaked taking the dogs out . I especially like long weekends because that's one less day for me to get wet.
Better weather forecast from Wednesday.

Techno - when you've finished your attic can you come and start on mine please?
I'll even stock up on Leffe for you .

hehe.

Not a chance . This was all packed by my ever helpful Mother-in-law when her friends didn't have room - it was " Oh there's room in my attic " and it got stuffed full. I hate the pull down ladder so wait for the kids coming up to do it for me You would be surprised at the tatty old rubbish furniture she stored up there - none is valuable , charities won't take it - so it's going in the skip [ at the end of May now ] My husband kept muttering that we would have to deal with the attic - but kept adding to it

Now the time has come

She could make a job out of it. I'm sure she wouldn't run out of work.

On off on off here in Wirral - 10 degrees at the moment - just been up to the shop for the 40th Anniversary card - off to stay in a boutique Hotel in Chester for one night DBB on Tuesday ( THE day ).Rain is threatening but some big fluffy white clouds as well and occasional bursts of sunshine.Wind has dropped to nothing and it bodes well for tomorrow methinks !

Stephen - the worst thing is when you turn suddenly and catch sight of your father in the mirror - now that is very unsettling.

Tech - the advantage of the "rubbish" is that it really is a "green" alternative to loft insulation - we have about 1" of that horrible old fibreglass matting stuff covered by a chipboard floor and then layers and layers of "junk"..................camera/lens boxes, vacuums, musical instruments,1500 odd books, clothes, bedding, electrical stuff,45s,LPs,cassette tapes, videos, christmas decorations, golf stuff, old silver, pewter, documents, bills, photographs, magazines ( AP from about 1990 to 2005 )old menus, recipes, pictures,PC games,dvds,cds................get the idea ??
Save the planet and your back - lol

Lord help us should we ever decide to move !!!!!

Yeah - but when it get's to the stage that you can't actually move up there , then SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE

The time has come and the place is actually insulated under it all .

My Mother was convinced that every one should move every 7 years - to make you clear the junk . Err we never did - I remember 3 houses only - but IIRC none had attics

This is an accumulation of junk since 1950s , when the house was built

This our first and only house since 1986 - we lived in Restaurants,Hotels, and Inns during our first 16 years of marriage - poor old Emma moved 12 times before she was 13 !
When we arrived we had a Triumph Stag,3 suitcases,a double bed,a bunk bed and not much else......................where the H*ll all that STUFF came from I`ll never really figure.

Eh Ho

Oh Tony (TOZZA27), I know what you mean. It has already happened. What's even worse is that I think he's inhabited me. I find such comments as: " in my day we.., do you really think that's such a good idea..., does the noise have to be that loud...?", now come out of my own mouth. I suppose the old saying 'history repeats itself' may have some validity.

As for the attic?? Just last week I ventured there and found things I didn't even know I owned. I think this stuff breads like rabbits.

Cheers and out to the sunshine, while it lasts,

Stephen

My attic does at least have proper stairs. Well proper Dutch stairs, which are only one up from a ladder .

There are boxes in there which haven't been opened since we moved here 26 years ago . And a whole lot more accumulated junk since then. I really shall have to clear it out - but my computer is also in the attic (in the room next to the junk) and I keep getting diverted by threads like this instead .

That's the sort of thing that really winds me up - there may be room, but it's your attic, not hers to offer!

Autoglass eventually arrived at 3pm, windscreen now replaced. If I feel better tomorrow I might try going out to take some photos.

We sleep in our attic, it's still full of junk though.

I'll be clearing some out when I get around to building the wardrobes down the wall.

After all, I've got to have some where for my cameras, not that Val (the boss!) knows.

She thinks it's going to be for clothes.
