Brilliant interpretation of a classic detective character - quirky, sociopathic and humorous with a streak of cruelty.Watson was great too - this is real TV worth watching and I think Conan Doyle would have been impressed.
It is fascinating how many of the "Holmesian" ideas came after the books and from plays or film adaptations eg the curly Meerschaum, the hat,the bumbling Watson, and many of the sayings attributed to the character.

Roll on next week

Seems to be a hit then!

I must admit to sniggering at the one liners and being impressed by the graphic po ups etc.

Like you Gwyn, it Sherlock kept me awake, a triumph of British production.

On the other hand, where did summer go, it's rainig again and too early to drown my sorrows with a beer.
Cheers, HG

Rain here too and only 19C today . I hope it doesn't mean summer is over. The long term forecast is not looking good though.

Wish I could get rid of the dogs for a week - I could go to Marseilles with my husband next week then. Three kids and not one can/will dog sit. Terrible.

If it were any other team they'd be looking at loss of all points for that race and everyone else being bumped up two positions. However, it would appear that Ferrari International Aid are still biased...

I saw Sherlock, wasn't sure what to expect but I liked it. True to the spirit of the originals.

I don't think anyone can improve on the Jeremy Brett series where direct adaptations of the original books are concerned. He and the two chaps who played Watson were perfect in the roles. Watson was never supposed to be a bumbling idiot, he was the educated everyman who the reader was supposed to identify with and in that adaptation his dignity was finally restored.

24 deg 85%RH Yuk.

S.Holmes? quite clever, but too smug.

Ferrari - fine them 150 constructor's points (constructor for this purpose being single so the apostrophe precedes the "s") payable as they earn them.

Better to have reversed the drivers placings, confiscated the constructors points, banned any team management contact with the drivers and then fined them - imho.

Blatant dis-regard for a rule brought out in 2002 after an incident regarding Ferrari`s manipulating of the Austrian GP.
By all means rescind the rule but punish anyone contravening it whilst it is in force.
As has been said at length in the press and online - if Alonso WAS faster then he should have overtaken !!

People who bet on sports events are also being cheated - a famous golfer once asked to make a double bogie at the last hole of a tournament by a Cobra team-mate replied " ***&^&^ yourself - you make a birdie !! "

I agree with Steve in principal but realistically Ferrari should be made an example of like Maclaren were and Hamilton was - their participation in the GP should be stricken from the records and at minimum one other GP should be excluded from their season - the fine is derisory and ineffectual.
Funny how all the people on Ferrari`s side are either tenuously connected with them ( Shuey ) or profiting from them ( Alonso,Massa,Ecclestone etc ).
Dirty tactics require strong punishment...........................

It might have been an air test after engineering work.

Tony - not just people who bet on the sport but people who pay to see a fair competition.

Here's the thing though. It is a team sport, yet behaving as a team gets them clobbered.

I agree, but it could be argued that the rule is wrong.
