Another pointless thread

Getting my smoked salmon from the fish harbour on Monday.
Hope your family are feeling better soon and can make it over.

I couldn't be bothered with making a Christmas cake, so I bought a small one online. Thursday evening His Nibs came home with a very spicy, slightly fruity cake baked by his music friends, and today the neighbors just came round with a massive stollen to say thankyou for dog sitting.
Unfortunately the rest of the mob don't care for cakes like that. Oh hum. At least my online cake will last until next year!

Don't you have to but brandy or sherry or something over the top of the cake to keep it moist. That would be my excuse anyway

Now I prefer Wensleydale with cake

No Wensleydale in Tesco on Thursday, neither prepacked nor on the deli counter.

Is it just a local problem or have the Wensleydale cheese elves gone on strike?

Think yourself lucky, our Tesco doesn't even have a deli counter on Thursday

Wensleydale doesn't make it over here. Stilton does, at Christmas at least, and plastic cheddar, which is identical in colour and texture to 90% of Dutch cheeses, just twice the price .

Plenty here in Doncaster. However needs a Yorkshire Export Licence to be allowed to go to Dorset, need to make sure Yorkshire demand is met first. Same goes with Hendersons Relish being allowed past Sheffield.

And then there is the "Wensleydale with cranberries" stuff (AKA "abortion"!) that SWMBO "loves" - I can't stand "adulterated" cheeses like that!
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Now you mention it I did see that listed in the Lidl folder. Sounds terrible. I'll give it a miss.
Not that I eat much cheese anyway.

Be careful with that. Herewith a cautionary tale from the old Guardian Unlimited forum:
Much more spectacular was uncle Vic's Christmas pudding.

He made it in about January, and faithfully topped it up with brandy throughout the year.

As he enjoyed a slurp as he "topped it up", he was sometimes "topping it up" three times a day.

On Christmas day the small, soggy looking pudding was brought to the table, and the guests physically recoiled from the eye-watering stench of alcohol.

He tried three times to light it, finally it caught just as he was blowing the match out.

In the resulting explosion a circular hole 2' across was burnt in the ceiling, a burning napkin set fire to the curtains and the special nylon "Happy XMAS" table cloth was welded to the table.

Vic lost his eyebrows, jaunty moustache, much of his hair and quite a lot of his tank-top.

The carbonicuous walnut that was the pudding smouldered in the garden for some hours.
Of course, he may have been exaggerating a bit...
SteveH!

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

Yesterday was quiet. Today everyone is here and well fed and slightly tipsy.

No idea what the new year will bring. We have no plans.

I hope Mrs HG has a long and happy retirement.
If you are passing this way you are most welcome.

The weather looks more than acceptable for Tuesday. I'm considering using a K-1 with a 43mm Ltd and CF tripod.

It's been an odd old year. Lost quite a number of friends and acquaintances and have spent some time putting fallible reasoning in place to what is a pointless attempt to make a logical conclusion of it all.

I will watch the last sunset of this year from a coastline. I'll even take a few shots of the submersion while remembering the people already gone.

It's only my point of view and no amount of reasoning will change anything already passed. So I'm preparing for 2020. My heads in a very different place and I'm looking to make my photography very different in the way I approach what I shoot and how I shoot.

Pointless is an opinion, a very valid opinion, as it will always make sense to some one.
Too far from a shore.
