Another pointless thread

It's my son's birthday today. He is in Sochi, working.
He sent me some photos taken with his phone, and it looks lovely there. He also sent one of his workplace. He is a sound engineer, and works mostly in a mobile studio. It is decorated with balloons for him today .
It's 25C in the Village, so he is very happy. Colder, but not cold up in the mountains.

What a difference a year makes. This time last year we were fleeing the ice and bitter cold for a week in La Palma, with all the sons and their partners and kids. This year it is blowing a gale but silly warm. One son is in Sochi, one wife is no more a wife and is in the Caribbean, and today we get to meet her replacement for the first time.
As for the youngest son, I assume he is still alive, but I haven't heard from him since December.

Happy Valentines all.

Remember the true meaning of the day. Overpriced flowers, overpriced chocolates and overpriced candlelit dinners.

... with beach stones flying in through the windows!

BTW: today's post brought a 'flyer' from Waitrose: "Order now for free delivery in time for Valentine's Day". Having to order 364 days in advance seems a bit excessive.

Just saw this headline on the bbc news website, 'This tree in Bromley, south east London, was uprooted in the storm in the early hours of Saturday morning, thankfully there was no other damage.'

Haud me up as we say round here

Nice ped HG

I got my old Citroen running but it is my transport rather than a hobby - I have been tempted by a newer motor but can't quite let the old heap go

I found out today just how effective Brasso is at making plastic headlight cover look like they should - mot due next week

How is this for tact in an apology from Easyjet for a delayed flight where an obstreporous passenger was removed from the aircraft by police? 'We would like to say sorry for the delay to your flight. Regrettably this was caused by a customer requiring additional unplanned assistance which affected the schedule of the aircraft planned to operate your flight.'

Is spring on the way?

Or is winter hiding like it did last year?
