And on quite another note, our one and only (16 y.o.) got put on a plane to Italy this afternoon, for over three weeks. It's her first time away...

Sure has TI! Lumix LX-3, 2 x 8 gb cards - and to be honest, I'm impressed. The best, brightest lens I've yet to see on a compact. Trouble is, her eye for a shot puts me to shame.

If she ever moves up to a DSLR, I'm grabbing it as a 2nd camera - no buts.

I saw something on the news here a couple of days ago that made me fall about laughing. It was a report on how forensic science degrees have shot up in popularity (presumably as a result of CSI/NCIS/insert other alphabet soup).

They were obviously so keen to let the students play at being in CSI that they even gave them a Nikon!

I suppose you're not bad at cricket. Not good enough to hold the Ashes, though!

Agree with you about the LX3 - I have one and it's a fantastic walkabout camera.

Ashes? That's just a flesh wound!

I had seen that you were an LX-3 user Doc - seeing what our daughter can do with it, I know why!

I had to get that jibe in - there's not been too many years of late when I could have.

Still, looking forward to next winter when England will presumably suffer their normal humiliation down under! I blame the doctored pitches. That and the fact that the English bowlers don't pitch the ball up like they once did!

Put that down to being 16. Not cool to be excited about anything!

Hope she has a great time. I haven't been to Italy in years but loved it when I used to go regularly. I would love to go back on a touring / photography holiday. I'd have to take the Horseman though because I can remember always being disappointed with my slides because of the converging verticals in the architecture. That and a plus 10 ND filter so I can get rid of the people with very long exposures!

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

... what's this strange liquid stuff falling from the sky? It's like snow but sort of runny?!

Haven't seen it since November. Damn, what was the name again?

I seem to be invisible to 95% of people with or without an ND10, judging by the way they attempt to walk straight through me or elbow me off the pavement into traffic!
