New door bell arrived

Took longer to get it out of the packaging than it did to get it set up
Did the knock at the door seem strange:
Actually it was a tap on the window - very very nice delivery driver from DPD -I had been given a one hour time slot for the delivery and was watching for the van pulling up at the front so I could go to the back door [ if you see what I mean as there is a sign saying all deliveries to back door please ]

This delivery bloke had been before so he came to the back door automatically !! and then spotted there was no bell so went along the back wall and tapped on the window !

How very very pleasant that was - a driver using his common sense

How posh is that? TT has a tradesman's entrance .

Just packing up for my hols. Deciding what to take, what to leave behind, what to forget, and what to regret, either bringing or leaving.

Norway again. Another boat trip since they made us an offer we couldn't refuse - 2 for the price of 1, including the airfares.

Back 7 October, His Nibs then has three days of work (not bad for a retired old geezer :wink then over to the UK on the 11th for a wedding on the 12th.

That wasn't budgeted for, and should have been a cheap trip, travelling on skank seaways (€55 return) and staying with family. Due to unforeseen circumstances we now have had to find a hotel or two and the costs are rising. Boarding the pooch for 22 days is not cheap either - we could have another holiday for that!

AH well, it's only money .

I fancy a mini cruise on the Norwegian Ffords, but Margaret is not keen on boats.

Nor am I. But I really enjoy this trip. It will be a tad warmer this time hopefully .

Do look at the Hurtigruten voyages. They seem expensive (they are expensive!) but they are full board, you can buy booze at the duty free on arrival in Bergen for consumption in your cabin, excursions nice, but in most places not essential. Sit back and enjoy the scenery. The chances of getting sea sick are very small as there are only two sections of open water all the way from Bergen to Kirkenes, and by the time you head south again (if you choose to) you have your sea legs.

Norwegian Air has cheap flights from the UK.

You need to do a few cruises at different times of the year. When I last did a "Cruise" the pilot sounded straight out of the Navy Lark and he got very tense when approaching Tromso bridge, the helmsman had a bacon sandwich in one hand and a mug of tea in the other and was steering using his elbows.

:shockon't tell Margaret.

Our last voyage was Zeebrugge-Hull. I happened to mention Herald of Free Enterprise. The doctor recons it was the stress that caused the stroke

Stan's helmsman wouldn't get a job on a passenger ship, well unless he was Italian I guess.

Do you miss this sea Stan? My son gets a little crazy in the winter when he can't sail.

Anyway I shall report back on October 7th, or maybe 8th. Be good, or something, while I'm gone. I shan't be checking in - the website is useless on a phone .

Good. You will have to keep us informed.

You could even post a picture (which is what people seem to do on a popular social networking site).

I'm still not well. Seem to have conjunctivitus now.
