Electrics work better when there's a fuse IN the circuit!

I was fixing the vacuum cleaner yesterday as the cord had become rather mangled.

Took a while to get it apart but managed to fit the new cable but realised I had no spare plugs (darn those un-reusable things) so I had to "borrow" one from a lamp.

Spent twenty minutes putting it all back together and turned it on, small whirr of engine then nothing.

Another twenty minutes later I had it back in pieces, prodding away carefully with the voltage tester - absolutely nothing.

Then realised that I forgot to switch fuses! The 3A from the lamp had blown. Which is why there was no power.

So had to put it all back together again!

Why is it always the last thing you think of?

Not everyone - we've had another really lovely day. A slight shower now, tomorrow cooler (only 24C) but dry and sunny.
Of course the day we planned a BBQ with family, Wednesday, looks like a washout. Followed by nice weather again.

It has been lovely sitting out until well past midnight enjoying the quiet evenings with all the neighbours away on their holidays.

A bit of rain in the North West, but not much. It's just been enough to freshen everything up.
Best regards, John

Edinburgh has been very pleasant so far. Rain due tomorrow.

So I had the bike in the shop to repair the grips under warranty. Whilst it was in they decided to adjust the chain. Unevenly! And deflate the tyres!!!
