This one seems to have turned out ok. Just a pity about the pose. We had an artistic disagreement. Kids Hmmpfff.

Nice image though. Try to focus critically on the eyes. With any portrait the phrase "the eyes have it" is well worth remembering.

So he has an artistic temperament already?

Those were just test shots.
Normally i would do my portraits indoors with my lights, reflectors, etc.

There is a beauty in a somewhat unpoised picture. I think the darling features of this child are priceless. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to know what he was thinking...his pleased look evokes a curious wonder. The skin tones are true and pleasing, I do agree with John, keep the eyes tack sharp...those eyes do not have to looking right at you, to capture it essence.

Nice to have such a photogentic subject....even if he has 'HIS OWN' moments. Kids...wonder and wows!!!

Thanks JudithAnn That was his "im not playing until you take a picture of the little horse look". We saw a Shetland Pony in a field and after we walked about 300 yards past it on the way back to the car he decided he wanted a picture of it, but by that time the pony had walked about another 400 or so yards in the opposite direction.
I told him he looked like the Joker out of Batman in that one and he does not like the Joker so he posed for a couple.
