After the parade

The idea of the red poppies against the background of a war memorial work well. It is a very tall and slender picture, is it cropped, or is it a joiner?
I wonder whether the link between the poppies and the memorial would be stronger if the tree was less obscuring?
The white document in the lower right corner could be cloned out, as it detracts from the poppies.

I like the idea, but something is not quite right in the image for me! Have you tried focussing on the poppy instead of the memorial? i.e. sharp poppy, blurry memorial.
The crop is also very tight at the top of the memorial.
And I think the tree should be behind the memorial, or not in the shot at all.

That's great, some good ideas there.
It is one photo and heavily cropped. The crop was to use it on a white background for a small poster. I selected the poppies and then made a new layer via copy with just the poppies on and then made the background layer black and white.
TBH I was walking the dogs and just saw the poppies lying where they were and took the picture while trying to stop the dogs getting in the shot. I didn't think about moving them, but i'll look at that as it will be less fusss than cutting the tree down.
I'll go back with my Sigma 10 - 20 to try and get in front of the tree and see if the poppies are still there.
Thanks for that folks, instant inspiration!

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!
