There's a process that has to unfold and there are time scales to it once you involve PayPal.
Best regards, John

Don't get this. Bought a hueyPRO via eBay/PayPal. Wasn't as advertised. Returned it. Refund went into my account the day the seller received the item back.

That's probably because the seller had the funds already in his account.

If not then it has to be transferred from their private account to Paypal and then to the buyer which can take at least 5 working days (or in Paypals case at least 10 the last few times this has happened to me).

Another update: payment was due today, and it now says 'removed' so I called paypal and they said that the funds were not in the bank. They advised me to open a dispute, which I have done and within ten minutes he had responded with a partial refund offer of £186. (should have been £200) Not sure why he thinks he should only give a partial refund as I am already losing £9 on the return postage. I understand that me knocking the flash back caused it not to work but that was only possible because the supports were missing from it, and he has already stated in an email to me that fuji have offered a free repair. I have refused the offer, now I am waiting to see what happens next

A partial refund through Paypal normally means you keep the item and the seller refunds you whatever amount he has offered.

No the item has been sent back to him, and he has received and signed for it. He first made a refund of £193 (£200 purchase price minus his fees) and that didnt go through because no funds in his bank, and now that I have started a dispute he has made an offer of partial refund of £186.

You were correct to refuse it and open a dispute .. Now he has had the camera back Paypal should be 100% on your side. Once he agreed to take the item back he was obliged to give a full refund.

Also make sure this is done as a refund and NOT a payment.

Don't accept his offer - just let the Paypal dispute run it's course. It might take time, but you will get everything back eventually.

Seller should do a refund so he gets his PayPal fees back, pos doesn't realise this hence offering to refund less...

ok, he has just sent me a message stating: (copy and pasted)

"I'm not sure why the refund was declined. I made sure I had enough funds in my account. I just want to get this all sorted, and I know you do to. I was only acting on what I'd been told, which is why I deducted the £7. I think the quickest way now would be to do a bank transfer, which I am happy to do, because I cannot do anything on my paypal account. I tried to add funds to my account this morning but once again it was declined, and I have no idea why".

What do you think should I accept it through bank transfer? and could it be possible that paypal are not letting him pay it through paypal now? thanks.

I would take it via bank transfer ... for the full amount.

Do not stop the dispute until you have the cleared cash in your bank

Hi, actually I just spoke to paypal, just to be sure and they advised me to tell him to call them and pay through them, and also asked for the tracking number/proof of delivery, and said they will refund me in 3 days whatever, and then take it up with him I guess, so hopefully it should work out ok. Thanks for your advice/help.

Oh, just had an email from paypal, saying that they have decided in my favour and have recovered £200 from seller! thanks to everyone for all your help with this, looks like it is sorted then!
