Adding copyright info to your camera in the settings....

Whats the point?

Right click the image go to properties then to details and you can delete the copyright and the auther, whats the point in it being there?

It isn't deleted from the EXIF.
I just checked.
Opened a jpeg in windows viewer and deleted my copyright, closed the file and reopened it in Irfanview and the copyright is still there.

I think it only goes if you strip the whole EXIF, such as when saving for web in Photoshop and PSE, or presumably when using a proper EXIF editor.

Saves you having to remember to put it in later...

Things like that can always be edited or deleted if someone is determined enough. I guess it is just convenience, although I get Lightroom to add all that stuff when I download.

Open your photo in a hex editor, look for the name and replace it with zeros (null characters). Bloody simple.

Replacing with a name with the same size (or shorter) is just as simple. I'm to lazy to check the spec to see if I can make it longer (my copyright and author are only 4 characters).
