My wife works a night shift on either Sat/Sun alternating - so When she works Sat night, she's sleeping most of Sunday. It's a good excuse to take the sprog and go for an adventure somewhere.

I have to say that I'm really enjoying results from the Tamron over my DA 55-300. When I have the little one with me, I have'nt a great deal of time to get a shot in. I know it's appalling for purple fringing, but I know it's limits and the type of shots to avoid, but for sheer focusing speed and a good minumum focusing distance, it's great. Plus the bokeh at 300mm is'nt bad at all.

It's now my standard walkabout lens.

I love the first shot of your daughter. The natural light that lights up her profile is beautiful along with the natural (no smile) face pose, then again it looks like she needs little of anything to bring out her natural beauty...lovely child.

I especially love the way you use your depth of field in all your photos during your walk...nice work.

Thanks Judith. After my movie-poster creation (which I remember you liked), I guess I need to up my ente on great shots of her in case she disowns me when she's older!

Some lovely photos there the smile on your little girls face made me smile. The Tamron offes great value for the money in my opinion.

Cheers chaps. Changing the subject a little, I've pretty much decided that my next lens purchases will be the sigma 17-70 macro and DA* 50-135, with the 50-135 being the first of the two.

I just can't wait for the quality of my shots to get even better (hopefully!).

Love the last shot, you must really enjoy each others company.

Got the sigma 17/70 and use it as a walk about on the K100 D I have been very happy with mine.

Hi Phil, I was umming and aarring over the Pentax vs Sigma 17-70, and the Sigma seems much more versatile (and cheaper!) Even though it is'nt HSM vs's Pentax's SDM, I believe it still pretty quick at focusing, if a tad noisy of course.

But what i'm curious about the most is it's macro capability, whilst not being a 'true' macro lens like the DFA 100, It still is a trump card over the Pentax 17-70.

What's your experence with using it as a macro lens?

I like the second squirrel pic and the first flower the best but they are ll good.

The tamron looks like a good alround performer for the price ( I have just been checking the price of it out over here). I think it might be on my list of next purchase's
