A Request To A DA15 Owner

I'd like to examine corner sharpness on a DA15 please. I'd like to see some test shots taken at different apertures and I'd like to download them and examine them at full size. Ideally I'd like shots taken at a resonable distance of something like a brick wall and then some landscape shots with something definite features in the corners to judge, trees are fine for example but not sky.

Thanks if you can oblige.

....and should anybody be able to supply you Dr O - I would be very interested in your conclusions as this lens has been top of my LBA list all year!

Thanks, a good resource but not quite what I'm looking for as I want guaranteed uncropped and full size images, plus a type of scene that I can more or less replicate.

Hi,

I'm packing for Greece and my landscape use wouldn't help with corners. Not a pixel peeper.

I love this tiny little gem though, especially into the light stopped down.

Hi,
I have a DA 15mm and might be able to get some pics later today if I get home from work early enough! I think it is a great lens, but if you are only interested in edge to edge sharpness I think you might be disappointed. The DA 12-24mm is a better choice in this regard.

The DA 15 has lots to like though, rendering, contra light & flare performance and especially it's small size - there is nothing else quite like it!

That would be great thanks. It's not to evaluate the lens, I want to just compare the edge sharpness against mine as I gave it a bash the other day.

I didn't have any time for new pictures this evening, but here are few test pictures I had on my hard drive:

DA 15mm Tests

It's probably the most boring set of pictures I've ever publicly shared, but feel free to pixel-peep! I think there are a couple of DA 15 shots on my 500px account too.

Yes, some really pragmatic reviews there. I bought my 10-17mm after browsing that site

Thanks but I really need full size shots with something of reference in all corners.

You should be able to view the full size ones on flickr. Just click "..." and then "view all sizes". I tried to put up a variety of things so there is a shot that covers each corner.

Maximum size is 1024 pixels and you have disabled downloading. I am really after full size 4928 pizels and I need to download them so I can pixel peep the corners at 100%. I can't reach any conclusion from small sizes. Plus sky in a corner is no good as it gives no reference to sharpness.

It's not just the corners that can be soft, but all the edges too, especially at wider apertures. I've just enabled downloading, let me know when or if you have downloaded them and I'll change my settings back. here's a couple at different apertures.

This one is at f5

This one is at f7.1, much sharper but still a touch of softness at the edges

By f8 it's pretty sharp across the frame

Hope these give some idea. I can upload one taken at f4 if you like, I have a couple where the edges were so soft I didn't bother uploading them. I still really like the lens though, and for some reason it works better in IR than on my K5.

Thanks Jon, downloaded them all. Still would like a brick wall photo at various apertures. Still not sure what Flurble means.

I will try and shoot a brick wall tomorrow if you like I have go shoot some anyway.

The bottom of the first two pics gives some idea though.

I'm not sure what flurble means either.
