A praise for the MX

I'm on frame 21 of the 36 exposure film, I might end it this week.
Its funny how now, I ask the question "is it worth it"?
Dunno if my photography will change, but it sure has been fun.
BTW, a friend at the photog. society said he'd help me with my first roll, so I might be going to the dark room sooner than I thought.

Actually, no. I am still considering either or none for the present. (They are currently sitting in two different locations, and I expect I will have several weeks to think it over & see what else turns up in the meantime. As I said, I am lucky enough to still have lots of other toys to play with for the time being. In the mean time enjoy your MES, I presume you did buy it?
I accept that one may be too "fussy/choosy" still, IMO, they were asking top dollar already (not doing me any favours), so I may as well wait a while and see what comes.

I just noticed that if I try to focus my eye in the middle of the viewfinder instead of the screen, I see a small vertical line. Is this normal?

Not that I've noticed on mine. Hairline crack in the viewfinder glass perhaps?

No, the viewfinder is clearly ok, it seems to be inside the prism (?), could the prism be cracked, perfectly vertically? I'll try to get a macro shot of it.

The prism's just a chunk of glass and glass can indeed crack! I've got a spare MX prism, perfect condition, already removed from a camera - PM me if you need it.

It does look like a crack - they're not particularly well protected under the top plate so if it's been dropped at some point..?

It certainly was not dropped by me. It has no dings or scratches to speak of. It doe shave some brassing, like its been rubbed against something metallic (clearly someone forgot to use the case...)
This is losing value fast...
I'm considering keeping this body to myself and work on the prettier one to sell.

I checked the better looking MX and it too has this line through it. It is very faint though and hardly noticeable. I also checked the third MX, the one that's a bit battered (its got a dent on the prism and I can only see a small line in the bottom (see first image), could it be the beginning of a crack?
Did I manage to get 3 MXs, all with the same problem...

Possibly - as I said they're not very well protected just there.
The offer of a new prism is still there if you want it.

I only came to the MX party last year and I have to say I'm very pleased I did! Lovely camera to use and there's something about all-mechanical designs that inspires faith in their longevity, like a well-made Swiss watch
However, the aesthetic condition of the particular example on offer was somewhat below average, and I will just have to wait until a better one comes along.
There was, however, an ME Super though....
(It's all in the journey?)
If you want a minter then be prepared to wait and probably pay through the nose.
In the mean time enjoy your MES, I presume you did buy it?
K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.
Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...
PPG entries.
