I have not seen one for sale on ebay so it is probably fairly rare. Given it was only made for a year 50 years ago, I'd be careful with it but nothing is as bad for a camera as not being used so run a film through it and make it feel loved

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

You have there one of the rarest Pentax cameras, so TLC is the thing. Use it and love it, or sell it and possibly get a good price.

Okay thank you, it seems very rare then.
I believe they don't even know it
I will try to see if I can buy it from them then and get it to fully working order and yes I'm going to keep it and use it then, only need some M42 lenses for it.
Only need to be carefull that they don't know how rare it is.

Not very rare, used to be loads of them SH in the UK. I think they also did a clip on meter for that model, again not rare.Just to let everyone know, I had a better look and there was indeed Asahi Pentax S but also 1a so it's another model make later

One of the most commonly found models, so no fortune to be had I'm afraid!

Thank you all.
It's too bad, they quite look the same and I really thought it was a Pentax S.
Better luck next time

I know it's the second pentaprism model and it only was in production for a year, so how rare are they?
At the photo club they have one that's still working fine except that the shuttertime is a bit off it seems.
I'm very tempted to roll some film through, just for the experience of it.
But if you say it's a rare piece of equiment, I think we should be a bit more carefull with it
I might even buy it then and give it some love
