Recently, in a staffroom, I saw some framed A4-sized photos displayed for sale with the caption See XXX for enquiries.

The images were quite reasonable and "marketable" and XXX was asking Aus$30-$50 apiece. He said, he also frequented a number of the car-boot and farmers' markets here-abouts

Being something of an amateur myself, I enquired as to his gear.

The only thing he knew about his (digital slr) camera was that he had bought it secondhand, it had two lenses, and it was a "Pentax" (but he had no idea what model, etc.)!

He was, also, thinking of offering "photography" at the local primary school, where he was a volunteer worker.

Well, here we have the ultimate non-pretentious hobbyist, who doesn't give a damn about technology: he just wants to take pictures and sell them.

A lesson to us all.

Yes. That's the way it should be!

It is well known, that the amount of technical knowledge one has, is inversely proportional to the ability to take an original and interesting photograph. - I know quite a lot about the theories and technicalities of photography. But can I take a good photograph?..... Can I, B*l***ks!
No man is worth his salt, who has not been banned from at least one Forum, and two Flickr groups.
