A dopey question about lenses

Is there any reason why I couldn't use my 16-45 lens that was specficially made for my *istD on my old film Pentax MX7?? Kinda embarrassed to ask such a lame question.

The digital lens only covers the size of the CCD, so in theory it will mean dark (vignetted) corners on your film camera. In fact, it might not be too bad, so the best thing is to give it a try and see if you like the results. The lens hood may not be useable, though.

There is no mechanical reason not to fit the lens to your film camera.

Physically it's fine. As John said you get some vignetting. However, I've used it at 16mm on an MZ10 and I didn't mind the amount
I've provided a link with the first tests I did: http://www.pbase.com/mattmatic/smc_da_test

Thanks for the reply. I just came back from vacation and tried it, but did get the vignetted corners you mentioned. Oh well, it was worth a try. Thanks for replies John and Matt.
