Going to the Shuttleworth Collection Flying day on 1st Sept with my new (off the classifieds herein) 55-300.

No problems with focussing on the K30 here. Set the AF area to pinpoint expanded haven't used it enough on any other setting to say if thats making a difference, it just seems OK with the little use its had on that setting.
Does seem to cycle when I'm pointing at a high aircraft but as others have said in other posts on this subject using the focus ring to get it nearly there seems to stop that. Seems like a good enough reason to get the DA to me.
Anyone got any tips on shutter speeds for propellers? I guess they freeze at 1/500 and there must be a tradeoff with clarity of the airframe through the air if slower (I know the beasties I'm going to see are not that fast )?

I have the DAL 50 - 200mm kit lens, is there much difference in IQ between this and the 55 - 300 DA ED up to it's 200mm setting?

Not a great deal with the ones I've got - DA 55-300 and DA 50-200 WR. And some real shots DA 55-300 and DA 50-200 WRI have the DAL 50 - 200mm kit lens, is there much difference in IQ between this and the 55 - 300 DA ED up to it's 200mm setting?
No doubt others will disagree.

I find the DAL hunts when full out at 300. I pull back slightly, re-acquire and then focus bang on every time. but yes, quick shift makes a difference.
