I've asked John to edit the link out - if he can ...
I was tempted too - mainly as a chance to sell at a profit, providing the prices stays low enough but as you are there, I will hold off.

Well I could, but would that now be fair on everyone else? I've bid as well and I wouldn't remove the link so that I reduced the competition for myself....
These helpful notifications are a bit of a mixed blessing really, but in any event we can't expect to keep an eBay auction secret.
What's the consensus - is it a good idea for people to point out eBay bargains (and thus potentially destroy the bargain) or doesn't it matter because it's there for all to see anyway?

So, you were all watching it ...
Whoever wins - you will not be disappointed - provided the lens is in good condition and it appears to be complete with case and original 40.5mm filters.
I also use mine with an A x2S teleconverter - a little dark when trying to focus but they are fine together.

A member may be bidding but keeping quiet and a post will spark additional interest and possible cost him more as either other member will bid or someone lurking from outside may see it and take advantage.
A member may find an interesting lens but by not posting it could end up with a non-member.
So, John, how about asking for a "closed forum" which can only be accessed by "long term" members (say 50 posts or more) where items such as this could be listed. At least then, WE, will benefit and outsiders will not be tipped off. It could, but members would never even contemplate it, be used to agree that only one should bid!

I wouldn't ask for that as I'd be very concerned about excluding anyone and the creation of elite cliques within the forum. I think it would cause real problems to be honest.

Maybe 50 is too many, but 5 or 10 could be a reasonable level.

Given that every person and his dog has seen this item I dare say it will go for a good price!
Personally, I don't feel restricting people mentioning things on ebay is worth the hassle. If I see something that is badly described and I might win at a bargain price, I keep stum but I cannot legislate against other people noticing too. That is just the nature of the net and we have to live with it. After all, Clarky's bargain haul of lenses wasn't through ebay at all IIRC.
Cheers, Kris.
