Liam: Hope you vote in the new poll posted in the General Chat category where you can see more comments that address some of your good arguments.
PeteKD: I totally agree with ChrisA that you take criticism "incredibly well". To say the least!! You have quickly grown the skin of an elephant Pete and GOOD FOR YOU!!
Don: No "point" intended towards you. Not sure if I agree that it never got ugly but it certainly has improved greatly. Just look at the civilised talk in this topic alone. A model for other forums that is for sure.
I LOVE P-UK!! (and not afraid to shout about it)
Regards
Drew

FWIW I think Petes shots are coming on tremendously, I would have been pleased with any of those (well maybe not the sunny highlight one) and I bet the model is happy with them too.
Someone suggested that Pete take more shots and select the best for posting, I would disagree to a point. I think trying to get it right with only a few shots is very commendable, filling a memory card and getting the shot of a lifetime is all well and good, but if you cant recal taking it or what was going through your mind at the time then you aren't going to learn much. Only taking a few shots and being able to remember the way you shot them makes it easier to evaluate your work later and remember what NOT to do next time.
I will agree on one point thought, lose the top.
Quick Edit..... "lose the top" that should have been CHANGE the top

Let me clarify...Someone suggested that Pete take more shots and select the best for posting, I would disagree to a point. I'm not advocating taking a hundred shots at random, and picking the best few in the unlikely event of there being a few decent ones in the pile.
However, endlessly fiddling with a couple of duds (sorry, I just hate the top, Ok?) in Photoshop or whatever he's using is equally unlikely to result in any improvement in photo taking ability.
FWIW, and as I've said, this is just my tuppence worth as a total non-expert, my feeling is that Pete needs to get more practice seeing when he's looking.
In my experience, seeing is hard to start with. I had to take a lot of rubbish shots before what I got on the photo corresponded to what I saw in the viewfinder.
Now that I get more or less what I see, I can set about getting what I intend... and that's even harder.

I'm definitely not advanced enough in either photo-taking or photo-editing to venture a qualified opinion here, but I think that Digital answers both sides of the "shoot exactly" or "just shoot - fix later" issue.
I think that film forced one to think more about the photo before pressing the shutter button, since nobody in my circle of friends could afford to use up film at the rate we might have... But digital lets me play - attempting things just for the fun of trying...
I got in the habit of jottting down my f-stop, shutter speed, lens, etc when using film - exif does a lot of that for me now for individual photos, but I still jot down misc notes, ie location, weather, etc... I shoot 10X as many pictures, but many of them don't stay on the card for more than a few minutes, and I can always look up my notes and/or the exif for the ones I do keep...
I think ChrisA makes a good point when he says that we need to work on our "photo taking ability" rather than concentrate solely on our tweaking abilities on a computer.
(In my case, it would drastically cut down on the fixing that I need to do later...)
