[quote:3496ace15f="Algernon"]Looks Good... I might even buy one!!!! Nice signature on the bottom  No pics of the back yet  Wonder what the Red button does? Edit: Pics of the back aren't being released until tomorrow ;-( dedicated video rec button. It would be too easy t...

$750 body only $899 with the 40xs $999 with 3 lenses (40xs, 18-55 and 50-200). This is going to be a very decent back-up to the K5 (but where the bloody hell is the OVF !) or travel camera.

good points MattMatic... on the wr, issue you may be right...It is a nice to have, not a deal breaker for me... I think the the video capabilities are superior to the k-5... just the more advanced codec (I wonder if they kept the old one as well?) and dedicated rec button are enough to please me,...

Hardly smaller or lighter than the K-5, Don't think AF is going to be particularly fast, no articulating LCD and to me its just really ugly .. those red and green buttons make it look like a toy. Looks like my LX5 is staying put. Reminds me of the Q ... great idea badly executed. I'm pre...

I quite like it... but...bit large isn't it? Looks like it was made in the Duplo factory. When I heard this was coming out, I nearly waited a month before to see what it was like before ordering a Sony Nex5N converted to IR, but I went ahead and bought the Sony. I am glad I did now, it's half th...

Only downside is all my Pentax lenses are manual focus with an adapter, which also makes the lenses longer. I'm presuming you can only use Pentax lenses with an aperture ring otherwise you have to shoot wide open?

That just sounded like Jonathan Martin desperately trying to 'excuse' the oddness of the K-01. I would have preferred him to say something like 'we appreciate this camera isn't as small as other mirrorless cameras, but our customers have expressed a wish for a relatively compact back-up or video...

sony makes a $350.00 evf for the nex 5n.... that is $350.00 us for a tiny vewfinder, where the pros are buying zacuto eye finders for the back lcd's on d-slrs to get a bigger viewfinder... for about the same price... I think Pentax made the right choice here.. as for exposure comp... I think the ...

I wouldn't lament the lack of an EVF as even the best EVFs are pretty poor. Given the choice, when I tesed the Sony SLTs A33 and A55 the back screen was the far better choice. If Pentax added an EVF you end up with something just about the same as a DSLR but with a poorer viewfinder and I really ...

You should try the new generation EVFs on the A77/A65 which are said to be significantly better, and the basis on which Sony...

Hmm. It's more choice right now, although I have to say I'm slightly anxious that the K-01 may be replacing the market segment previously held by the K-R and K-X, which I do think would be a great shame. The fact is, the K-R is the entry level DSLR to get- build quality as good as (if not better ...

I've just taken my K-5 outside to take some photos of crocuses in the afternoon sunlight with my 50mm FA macro lens. I tried using liveview to simulate taking such a photo on a K-01 but I couldn't see what I was taking as the screen was reflecting the sunlight. Getting a shot in focus wasn't possibl...

Getting a shot in focus wasn't possible, the autofocus doesn't know what the target is That's the case with or without LV. That's what selective focus point is for, and on the K-5 you have plenty of choice when using LV ;) Personally, I rather like the look of the K-01 (not in yellow though!). I'...
