New Boy.....
Hi All, Here I am, back again. And this time I've got some good news. I've now ordered my K-x, and it's on it's way. It's just the 18-55mm kit, but it's a start for my first DSLR. I can't wait for it, and I can't wait to post my first pictures here!

hello from a newbie
Hi I have recently joined the forum and am new to dslr's, but not photography. 'Back in the day' I had lots of fun with Zenit and Praktica cameras and assortment of cheap glass. I have a gx10 and am awaiting a k10d from a forum member. I have not really had chance to use the samsung, as it has b...

Wotcha!
Hi there, I thought now was a good time to make my first post here - I can wish you all a happy new year! Pentax and I go back quite a few years - I still have my first - a Spotmatic F. I don't run much film these days but its nice to have around. I've a couple of more recent Pentax film camer...

hello just got my kr
Well if this was taken at 300mm f5.6 then you are shooting wide open. Personally I would stop the lens down a bit and bump the ISO up .. the K-r can take it easily. Also looks to me as if you have caught the collar with the focus rather than his eyes Good looking dog though. Have posted th...

newbie alert!!
I've recently become the proud owner of a pentax K-x with 18-55 and 50-200 lenses. I love taking pictures but i am a complete novice having only used compact cameras before! I will be asking loads of questions on here as although i have read my manual from back to front about 4 times there is so ...

New oldie signing in
Hi to all, Thanks for the welcome from you all. I've been reading through the forum and the K-x certainley seems popular and well thought of.I've started the learnng curve and can see where the old Zenit has given me a good grounding going through the K-x menu's. I'm looking forward now to a dry br...

New user of Pentax k-x
Welcome Dave, I got the same deal from Curry's a few weeks ago and I have to say I haven't been dissappointed despite the fact that the first one had an auto focus issue. You are going to love this camera, for the money it as an absolute star. Good shooting, Chrys

New forum user
Hi, Costypezza8 Welcome I've only been on here a very short time. I recentley decided I wanted to go back to a SLR, the last one I had was for my 21st some 36yrs ago. I did some extensive researching but had more or less decided that it was to be a Pentax. It was the camera I dreamt of as a young m...

New Pentax User
The K-5 arrived! :D But still waiting for the Tamron lens. :( I do have a which I got from ebay for peanuts (£18 including postage!) I got it mainly for its relatively decent close-focusing ability as it will likely be a while before I can afford to splash out on a proper macro lens. It's not in p...

Just posted some of my first K-5 shots in the Your Photos forum for anyone who's interested. :) Still no Tamron lens so I'm using the manual focus one.

Don't Mind Him, He's New...
Welcome to the forum Gav. The 50mm:mrgreen: lens you have chosen is a fine lens, although not autofocus. As to the macro zoom. This will not give true macro. There are plenty of macro lenses about, but they are primarily prime (not zoom)lenses. These range from the latest expensive Pentax 100, also ...

Don't Mind Him, He's New...
Welcome. "Lens Buying Addiction" is something that some members seem to suffer from, but no names.... The zoom you list is not a true macro lens, so depending upon how small the models are you want to photograph, perhaps try before you buy if you can. If you have the kit zoom that comes with t...

Don't Mind Him, He's New...
Nice link! Well the models are about 120mm - 150mm tall, so x100 - I'm sure you can work it out! On a side note - I just bought a Pentax-M f1.7 50mm off ebay for £30.. I don't mind playing around with manual focus! Though I noticed this was the model before the A, so hope it's as good.. Che...

So what's the advantage of a macro lense? I was just told scale models = macro lense. The kit lense does focus on them but I though I might get better photos with a macro lense?

Restrictions - K mount lenses
Hi John Thanks. What you saying is that it's back to manual. If so,that's OK with me as I work most of the time in manual anyway. I wasn't sure if there are any other restrictions such as lens to sensor size. So will a K mount lens still fill the full size of the sensor. I've been using Pentax came...

Restrictions - K mount lenses
. . . so any lens needs an auto setting on the aperture ring, marked "A". If it has that, then full functionality for that lens. Not entirely accurate. With manual focus lenses, the only focus point available to you is the centre one.

New here
No, not me on the Pru site, though I do use this name on lots of others. I can't say I remember a shop in Congleton, but then I didn't really shop around that much. I used to use Camera Exchange in Crewe, back before it became Jessops, but I was buying this stuff at the closing point of when I was i...
