Pentax Pinhole cameras

Focus isn't that brilliant, even though DoF is huge. (One webpage mentioned that it was down to the fact you really need the pinhole closer to the sensor??) I would guess that that's down to diffraction, and the comparatively large size of the hole (aperture) compared to the sensor. Distance to the...

meeting up with southerners.. :)

Hi all, great, lots of interest.. :D It seems at the moment as though the meet is going to be somewhere in the Watford / St. Albans area, with Andy's location just dragging the point west a touch, and with Tim and Will suggesting both, which is handy. :) How about a when.. Weekends ...

Watford will be expensive because we will all end up at SRS! Also, do they have an Association Football match on that day? http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/football/allcompet/teamschedule/4970.html No game on 10th.. away on 17th.. But more importantly, there's 2" of snow outside.. I've got to ...

So, back to it.. it looks as though we're going to be in St. Albans on the 10th March. When and where.. locals please. Cheap (free) parking, and a list of things to see. Actually, for those that live there, can you have a word with a local pub maybe.. free parking.. warm meeting place, and ...

meeting up with southerners.. :)

Reuben, could you confirm that I've picked the right places please. Yes, these are correct :-) It's probably about a 20min walk from the City station to the museum. I don't know if it would be useful to anyone, but there's another station (St Albans Abbey) which is a bit closer and ...

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

Way back in the dawn of time I owned a Zenith SLR. When that died I had a series of compact cameras. I only took family snapshots then, no time for anything else. Then I bought a Sony Mavica for my OH. He had borrowed one from a friend in California whilst we were on holiday there and really liked i...

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

At the back of a drawer somewhere is a Fuji 35mm compact, an Olympus Zoom 35mm compact and a Purma 127 format camera that belonged to my father - check the Purma link.

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

Apart from a small collection of classic cameras I also use a Fuji S7000 which is incredibly useful for shots of items going on eBay. The close focus of 1cm in Super macro mode can be quite a bonus. The quality may not be up to Pentax DSLR standards, but it's still a useful device.

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

I have an Olympus OM10 which I use for B&W. It's a great MF camera which has lasted me the past 23 years with no problems. I also have a couple of Praktica's which were donated to me but they are currently gathering dust in the wardrobe as I haven't had the time to give them a good clean. ...

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

I still have my first camera,..a kodak Box 'Brownie' IIA on which I started the great adventure that has lasted, on and off, for my whole life. I had to get thru quite a lot of very primitive cameras before I eventually got to a secondhand pentax S1a which my next door neighbour still uses 41 yea...

What non-Pentax cameras do you own?

I still have the fully working kodak 'Autographic IIA' in the old '230' giant rollfilm size which my grandfather used in India to secretly photograph a widow throwing herself onto her husbands funeral pyre although this was illegal undr British rule at the time. In 1917 the camera was sent back ...

On a lighter! note...

There was this haunted house on the outskirts of the town which was avoided by all the townfolk - the ghost which `lived' there was feared by all. However, an enterprising journalist decided to get the scoop of the day by photographing the fearsome phantom. When he entered the house, armed with o...

See!?! This stuff is brilliant!! :P Even grumpy ol' George has got to like THAT one! :? Right? Savin' up, oh, my Guru, savin' up!! Quantum leaps are my speciality, from a Super Program - manual wind, manual focus - straight to the latest and greatest gear. Tell me, Folks, what y...

How reliable is your camera.

Hmmmm... One of my MZ-S's had a hell of a time, went back to Pentax at least twice if not 3 times with very noisy wind mech problems. They gave me a new one in the end... Had issues with Z1-P pop-up flash not working, an LX needing a new circuit board and I can recall in my teens going to Slough ...
