Just a pictutre or two
Love the macro shots, sharp, moody and not 'over-stated'. 10 out of 10. The "Toadstool" , 11 out of 10. Infact, the grass shot with the water droplet, also 11 out of 10. Just looked back at 'Toadstools', go on then, 11 out of 10.

Just a pictutre or two
Hi Smithy, I have used a Uniloc tripod for about 5 years, and have found it superb for macro work - basically the same design as the Benbo, but to me it was more solid than the Benbo at the same price point. However, a few weeks back, on my first day on holiday in Cornwall, having lugged the thi...

Just a pictutre or two
Galoot, I hadn't thought of connecting all my macro pieces together to see what the result was. So I attached my Tamron 90mm Macro lens to a Pz-AF 2x Teleconverter to a vivitar 2x Macro focusing teleconverter to 12mm + 20mm + 36mm extention tubes and vivitar 6000 ring flash with the results:- ...

It's happy turkey day over here!
Speaking of turkeys...... It wont be long before its turkey time over here either, something like 76 shopping days left maybe santa will bring us all a K10D. Dons post just reminded me of Pat, a good friend of my wifes, a very caring spiritual person who wouldn't hurt a fly (you know the type)...

How autofocus works..
Hi all, thought this might be of some use.. http://travel.howstuffworks.com/autofocus3.htm might get someone a better picture if speed is of the essence.. :D Also, where it mentions a horizontal sensor strip, on the DSLRs Pentax use horizontal and vertical sensors arranged in crosses ...

Dual systems
Well after much contemplating I have decided I am going to have a dual camera setup with both Canon and Pentax. I have not wanted to stop using Pentax cameras because they have such nice bodies and lenses but I also find the Canon cameras very well thought out, fast and easy to use. You can really ...

Dual systems
I use a canon g5 and pro 1. a Pentax ds2 and soon a k10. Also a super program and an ae1 for school. for what it's worth, the pentax ds2 is my favorite....but the canons are quieter and can focus in the dark, and still get used at every wedding we shoot.

Dual systems
I can forgive the istDS for slightly noiser AF or jpegs. The camera sits so well in the hand and the control layout is good, even without 2 wheel controls for shutter/aperture. Added to that is a good viewfinder and backward lens compatibility. At this stage, I do not need anything more from a dS...

PENTAX 400-600 ZOOM ON E*BAY
Stan's site is positive about it. It's a K lens, with fixed aperture, so you could use it in AE mode on a DSLR. Bright daylight only, though. You wouldn't want to try and focus at f12 in dim light. G

Sony beats Canon
What's this to do with Pentax? Just got this weeks AP mag with a comparison of the Sony Alpha and Canon 400D Sony gets 90% whilst Canon gets 84%. Given that almost any old trash will get at least 80% in Magazine reciews and (historically) only miracles ever seem to warrant 90% this represents...

Sony beats Canon
It's a shame, because looking at the results achieved from both cameras, the Canon probably comes out on top of most tests. You won't make any friends round here, saying things like that! Just wait 'til George sees that. Let's hope that Pentax get their finger out as far as se...

Items on ebay
You can't fault the advice above, I'm a big user of ebay having bought mostly (over 400 items) and sold a fair bit (getting on for 80+ items). I go by the same handle as on here... I tend to only sell items that I have a passion for and a little expertise in. My top tips for buying are: 1./ Make...

Items on ebay
I do see what you mean but I'm not exactly advertising for work. My sign off on here is about the only place where I've had the link up and other than friends, you and George are, as far as I know, the only people who've been on the site. Whilst I do aspire to selling some more of my work and that's...

On the contrary, Matt, this is a site run by real experts with real insights to impart. For instance, their John Warton says: "The subject should be the focus of the picture.” “Try to always be ready." "It is OK to make mistakes and learn." “Ligh...

Everything's Relative
or, never take your Pentax for granted. Hi everyone! Just one of my silly rants..... I've been shooting with 3 Spotties (SP, SPII and F) and Don's Super Program for about three years now. I've amassed a modest collection of Tak, Super Tak and SMC lenses as well, with tubes and bellows for macr...
