Ok, here goes, old common question. I have a K100D Super, which I am about to try and sell with the kit lens and upgrade to the new K-5 body. I am now stuck for which lens to get. I currently have a Sigma 18-250mm 1:3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens as a general travel lens, all around lens, but it is not the best as soon as the light goes away. I have 2 old Sigma lenses which came with my MZ-60 Film SLR, a 28-90mm and 70-300mm, both of which are basic (kit like) lenses.

I am considering a prime lens, and would like to keep the price under AUD$1000 (eg US$1010). I am looking at 50mm lens or equiv. Now I do like shooting landscapes, waterfalls and sport. Sport is the hard one, as generally need telephoto.

I have came across this one - PENTAX FA 35mm F2 AL

I will also consider other brands.

I will also consider a good lens in the low range of say 16-??? with a decent aperture for those low light conditions.

Hope some one can help.

What is this lens like?

Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO lens (for digital)

Would be used as the main lens, just need another polorizing filter, cause the 55mm won't fit.

Hello again. I am about to buy a K100D Super (next week) and will come with a 18-50mm lens (kit). I already have a 28-90mm and 70-300mm which I use on my 35mm SLR (MZ-60).

Couple of things,

1.
I will be going to China for 5 weeks later this year, and plan on taking just the 28-90mm, and just want to know if this will be suitable.

2.
Regarding landscape, this is what I am mainly interested in, so in the future would be looking for an appropriate lens. From what I have read and researched the 10-20mm is very popular, however comes with a hefty price tag. Just after some thoughts and recomendations (would probably stay with pentax & sigma).

Yes, another world cup, I am sure we are capable. Unless it is Rugby Union. I recon young Cadel could pull off the Tour De France, but 4 mins is a big gap with only 5 stages left.

The camera also comes with a free battery charger (inca) and 4 NiMH 2600Mah batteries which retails for AU$50. So I think is a resonable deal.

Hi. The K100D Super has just arrived on Australian shelves and is AU$749 with 18-50mm lens. With 2 year extended warranty it is AU$798.95 or about Euro$511.

If any other Australians out there let me know if this is fair price. as it is only about AU$50-70 more than the older K100D.

Hello,

I am about to be new to the digital slr world. I do however have a pentax film slr so understand the workings of an slr, though it has been a while since I have had a good play with it.

Anyay, I will be getting a K100D shortly, as after reading reviews and doing my research I have found this to be the best value for money, and I already have 2 len's which are compatible.

Okay, do I wait for the super, or willl the K100D sufice? I am not sure how much the super will be but the K100D with a 18-50mm lens is currently around AU$699, so am guessing the super will be upwards of $800. But who knows. It is due here in August. My plan is to have it asap before my 5 week trek through China, so I can have some trial runs and know how to use it before I go.

Also, as I have know idea about the world of advanced digital imaging what are the differences and pro's & con's of the file types below:

Raw Image
EXIF 2.2
JPEG
DPOF 1.1
DCF

One other question, will the software work on Microsoft Vista?

Any help would be appreciated.
