I bought a 3rd party grip from a forum member and the grip was one of the "better" copies ie the correct amount of screws etc. Since then the lock handle which is very thin has split but I'm sure could be repaired if I can find a long philips type screw driver as there is one screw I can't get at (isn't it always the case) Will look around and I'm sure I'll find one. The grip itself functioned as it should. I had it on grip first for battery use. It's surprising the addition weight with this attached but as soon as I can repair the lock I'll be using it again ( with a lookalike battery as I was doing ). There is a post online somewhere showing the differences in the copies (can't recall where I just googled it) the better ones are identical to pentax. Much better for taking snap with camera in portrait position, but sometimes forgot to turn it off

Ps where did you get a K5 for £400 quid I'm thinking of getting one. Next year the Bigma

Newbiggin News: One of the dogs overcome with excitement while waiting for the Olympic Torch Bearer to pass by. Considering the weather I was surprised so many people turned out to watch We got a free bottle of coke from the Coca Cola truck and saw a large screen image of someone, a footballer I think, on the side of the Samsung truck.

I was given a free third party battery by a forum member and it's still working ok. I went into Jessops for a battery for a Pentax RS1000 and they said it was £29.95 and that was for an Energizer also available online for £5.56 inc p/p. If I was still in full time employment I may be tempted to use OEM stock but I'm not so bless the third party suppliers in their far eastern sweat-shops

We had a protected tree, a massive Willow, far to near the house (not planted by us)and we had to plant a replacement first then apply again after 5 years. There was no charge involved and once everything was in order, the new tree, an Acer, was well established we were given permission to remove the Willow (aka Tree 51). Took me a whole morning to render it down to a 1.5mtr stump. A friend, with a landscape garden business cut the rest off to the ground, shredded the upper branches and treated the stump for free.
