It is a lovely combination and I took the two butterflies in my gallery with this set-up.I know it is, I have had 3 of them but they always got sold on due to lack of use. Saying that I'm always willing to give it another chance 😄 Is it the DG version ?No it is not (thought it was originally, but must of been thinking of the 100-300 I owned) EX IF on the box . It is in lovely condition though and works well with the ring-flash. I would have preferred a Pentax Ring-flash if possible but do believe that the 72mm lens size is too large, hence the Sigma ring-flash that goes with it. I wont be able to use it now though as :- Pentax K3 II camera ... NOW SOLD Pentax 150 - 450mm 4.5/5.6 ED DC AW ... NOW SOLD NOW OPEN TO OFFERS ON ALL ITEMS THAT ARE LEFT

Sadly I have decided to sell my Pentax SLR kit & lenses so I thought I would give the heads up to Pentax User members before I list the kit on eBay, although most of it will be listed today due to a maximum £1 selling fee per item offer for this bank holiday weekend only. All kit is in mint or near mint condition and works exactly as it should. There is the occasional very minor scuff mark here and there (you will need to look close to see any) but no major scratches. The majority is boxed and most have the original accessories, rear front caps cases etc, if not generic items are supplied. All lenses except for the 8-16 are fitted with filters and they have been on since purchase of each lens, hence no scratched glass. If interested please get in touch through the message service and I will forward more details and pictures although I guarantee you will not be disappointed with any instant purchase made. Buy with confidence ... If you are not happy with the item I will accept returns at your cost. Please Note :- they are going on eBay as Buy it now items at a higher price than listed below and I cannot guarantee that they will not sell quickly as on previous occasions I have notified Pentax User on items for sale, but then when listed on eBay they have immediately gone and users making enquires have lost out, but now you will have a few hours advanced notice at least. All item prices include post and packing for UK buyers. Members abroad will need to get in touch for postage costs. Nice captures! Can't guess which camera lens combination was used for which shot though :(. Anyone? An easy way to find out is to install Mozilla Firefox as a extra browser and use that. Go to add-on`s and search for FxIF and integrate it into the browser, then any picture you right click on will bring up a menu with FxIF data showing on it. Click on that and all picture information for that photo will be shown in a pop up box (providing the info has been included). Info also includes shutter speeds, aperture, camera used, focal length, date, whether flash was used and a bit more too. Its very helpful as use to a guide as to how pictures were taken. According to the info shown using FxIF data, all taken with the 50-135 except for numbers 8,12 & 14 that were taken with 150-450. Hope that is of help Martin
For Sale .... Sigma 100-300 f4 EX DG (K1 full frame compatible)
Posted in Classified Adverts
Sigma 100-300 f4 EX DG in excellent condition both optically and cosmetically. No marks on the glass and no scratches nor body coating peeling whatsoever. Everything works exactly as it should. No focus issues on my K3 II and it was the same when I used it on my old K5. Comes with front and rear lens caps, case and boxed with instructions. Also fitted with a Hoya HMC Super UV[0] filter which has always been on since I purchased it. The lens is full frame compatible with the K1 as far as I am aware. Issues (if you wish to call them that) ... there are a few very minor dust specks in the lens (as to be expected on all zoom lenses) but these do not in any way detract from the image quality. The AF/MF focus ring is easy to move, but every one I`ve had (three of them , 2 good and one not so) have all been like that. The box is also slightly tattie. Not sure if this is a first or second generation model. Zoom and focus rubbers suggest first generation but lens markings, late serial number and original case (black not green) suggest otherwise, either way the lens will not disappoint the future buyer of that I am sure. The lens was originally an import from the States. Pictures do not do the lens justice and the only reason for sale is just lack of use. My 150-450 stays on the camera for probably 90/95% time now which makes the 100-300 redundant in use for me. Looking for £535 ovno includes next day insured postage. Bank transfer or Paypal (buyer pays the fees) It will be listed on eBay tomorrow as I do have a ebay offer of £1 maximum selling fee for 15th/16th only. The listing price will be higher on eBay. I would ideally prefer to sell to a Pentax user site member. Any questions please feel free to ask.
Any opinions on the Sigma 300mm f2.8?

The older version was a non-hsm in Pentax AF mount if you can find one. I had a non AF version many years ago ... very sharp but also heavy as well. Now only produce Sigma Canon And Nikon mounts only according to their website http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=59_62&product_id=111 Click on "lens construction and outline " tab and lens mounts are at the bottom of the page
EXIF Settings
Posted in Pentax Digital Camera Discussion
When you save for web there is an option to save exif under the metadata tab. Set the dropdown on " all " and most of the exif required is saved. There are a couple of other options as well, one of them being "none". Presumably this is how yours is set if you are using Photoshop Martin

Thanks Alan, that sounds fairly simple in terms of the control choices at the HDR mapping stage. Have you tried the K3 HDR functions yet?In camera HDR is too over the top for my liking, perhaps has a painterly feel if you like that type of thing. The pictures shown are straight out of the camera, a K3II, just resized for web only.

I'm afraid Pentax bodies just aren't up to the job when it comes to focus trackingNot True. K3 or K3II and 150-450 or Sigma 150-500, plus some other earlier bodies as well. It just takes a bit of practise and getting used to using, that's all. Perhaps not as quick as Canikon`s but still up to the task.

Not all the first versions had issues. I`ve had mine for years now with no troubles whatsoever focusing or otherwise. In fact I had two as had the chance to purchase the second at a price I couldn't turn down. I eventually traded that in at SRS (which was probably the one they sold and that was mint condition with no problems either) for a 150-450. I kept the other one, but as the 150-450 spends most of the time on my camera it rarely gets used now. If you are interested I would sell it for £535 for a quick sale which includes next day delivery, if not I will list it on here or on ebay some time soon. Let me know. It looks like new. You wont find a better example of that I guarantee. For a sharpness comparison I have posted with this reply six pictures, two each of which were taken with the Sigma 100-300, the Pentax 150-450 and the Pentax 300 f4*, all hand held at 300mm. It was just a quick basic check to give a comparison between the lenses. They are all Jpegs straight out of my camera (K3II, no focussing adjustments in camera for any lens neither) no processing just resized for the web. Can you tell which lens goes with which pair of photographs? 1- 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 -
K-3 and a 128gig Micro SD card
Posted in Pentax Digital Camera Discussion
I've tried a Google search for Girixx SD cards and the only thing that shows up is your own query! That's a pretty unusual occurrence. I was trying to see if others have had the same issue with that brand elsewhere but with regret I drew a blank. I think I'd try a reliable branded one (such as Sandisk) before the trip to avoid disappointment.Think you will find the correct spelling is Grixx. They still make flash drives and used to make cheap cards as well and were sold through 7shopday.com and Amazon. Think the cards have been discontinued now but they still advertise the the flash drives and also a card holder I do believe. Not used one myself but they were fairly cheap although not well know, so I don't know how reliable they are or were.

Farne Islands photo trip - any tips?
Posted in General Photographic Discussion
Possibly up that way myself in the next few weeks and if so wouldn't mind taking in the Farne islands. Can I just turn up on a day and pay for the all day trip or does it need to be pre booked. Would a Pentax 18-135 and 150-450 be overkill or would it cover most situations for the Farne islands, other option be travelling lightly which would mean me taking a Sigma 18 -250 macro HSM as a sole lens, although I do have a Sigma 8-16 I could take as well, but presume there would be no use for it out there. perhaps Stephen could add some comments on return from his trip. Any suggestions would be helpful as well Martin
Sigma 180mm f3.5 Macro lens
Posted in Leads to Deals
Didn't realise he`d been trying to sell it for a long time as I only just came across it by accident. As for price I suppose it depends on what someone will pay that makes for whether it is worth it or not. I must admit I overpaid for mine (although it is a DG EX) but it was what I wanted at the time and as they don't come round very often I bit the bullet and went for it. I don't use it very often but it still turns out sharp shots when I do. Last time of use was the one of the two butterflies together in my portfolio pics on this site.
