I've started putting up images on my blog and Flickr, so far these are of the Akita Kanto Matsuri, but more will follow over the next few days.

Akita Kanto Matsuri is a lantern festival in northern Japan.

A night shot taken using off-camera flash triggered with a PocketWizard

The following image of a lotus flower was taken at the moat beside Akita Castle. Check out the full size image on Flickr to see the detail on the seed head.

Will try and put up more images soon.

A few extra bits of information for fellow photographers. This was lit from top right with a beauty dish that was gridded with a diffuser over the face of the dish. There was a reflector bottom left.As I've said before I will try and get a landscape shot soon, along with a long exposure shot. A little busy at the moment but I will get them done eventually!

So the first image taken with the camera, almost straight out of the box was of Bear (my dog).

See the larger image on Flickr here link
And later this afternoon I went out to the coast for a better test of the camera's abilities.

Will hopefully get some more images tomorrow, and even test out using 67 lenses on the 645D body.

No worries though, a high customer demand can only be a good thing. Should mean that Pentax will continue to invest in lenses for the system.

A few answers...
One reason to use medium format film is that the larger the piece of film (or the larger the sensor) the more detail you can capture and the gradations of colour are smoother. Does this matter when printing smaller photos - no. Does it matter when printing large - yes. For magazines I am aiming at the two page spreads. They make your images look best and you also get a higher fee. You can see a few of my tear sheets here. As you start printing larger the differences are even more important. For exhibitions and as limited edition prints I produce prints that are A2 in size. A 17"x22" print will look very different if you are using a smaller piece of film.
A second reason to use larger film or sensors is to do with depth of field. When shooting portraits with a medium format camera you can get a very shallow depth of field and a nice bokeh. You can study this by playing around with a depth of field calculator and varying the film / sensor size. A shallow D of F and then having the subject sharp creates the 3D effect or the that Hefty mentioned.
Hope this helps!

645D already on order and should arrive before the end of the month
The main issue with the Pentax 67II is the slow turn around time now that I have to wait a week for color transparency processing. In the past as the majority of my work was for travel magazine or for exhibitions / print sales this wasn't a problem, but recently I am getting more commissions from magazines and newspapers that need the images almost immediately.
From June I will be a hybrid shooter using both film and digital. Should be fun!
