The dunce hat will stay for a while It will go when I have more confidence in myself .

This course is brilliant but it's also very challenging for me coming from years with a wee P&S , and us oldies don't learn as fast as we used to do .

One of the problems of course is the fact that until now I just used to wander about with my wee kodak and something would strike me - a bit of stonework on a building , some leaves in a garden , an arcaded street in Spain , that sort of thing - and then I'd take a few pics for my pleasure and the memories - yup - the typical tourist . This being set a challenge to show something is not easy for me.

I like the thought of using a mirror - but I'm not sure the freestanding one I have can be used for this - it's quite small . I'll experiment on Thursday [ tomorrow is rather occupied ]

Some ideas are beginning to form in my head - we will see what comes to fruition .

John - it's gorgeous but waaaaaaay beyond my capabilites . That needs a skill with PSE that I don't possess - but I'll certainly remember that for the future

I bet our Frenchman will come up with something like that - I still remember his motion shots - 25 of a drop of water falling into some sort of container !

Ha - those pencils are all black HBs - don't ask me why I have them - they were found in the attic - but seem to be coming in useful today

OK I see Thursday is going to be a busy day - there are 3 windows in that room , lighting is going to be fun

Thanks for the suggestions - I might pass this assignment yet

You mean something along these lines ? OK not set up properly but as a rough idea ? I'll be able to set it up properly on Thursday if this will work - and it will be handheld too .

We'll have a bash , but I've never tried anything of that sort before . This is waaaaaaaaay outside my comfort zone.

I can't see anything round here working

There are some lovely houses - semidetached, so you would think that would work since they are sandstone - but all too often they have different window frames really really obviously non-symmetrical , or one of the pair has plant pots on it's doorstep [ can't go and say please would you remove your plant pots while I take a pretty pic of the house ]

Nothing in my house is symmetrical

Saw some lovely scaffolding/building framework the other day - but nowhere to park the car

Oh well - you win some and you lose some

I suspect so - we haven't really started to use Photoshop [ well Bridge ] and I'm not comfortable with it yet either [ was using iPhoto ] .

It's only been one week that he's actually allowed us to crop our pics - and remember everyone in the class sees them

Grrrh And that case is sunk into the wall

I thought I'd done pretty well getting the windows lined up too .

Oh well , I'll try it from the other side and see what happens , knowing my luck that won't work either

this one has been a bit of a pain - I have a house [ Stately Home type which will do ] and this one.

IF I get time I'm heading back to them this week for another go - I'm not totally convinced . The Tutor did warn us he was considered rather a...l on the topic - if it was meant to be symmetrical then it had to be down to the last millimetre

Any suggestions for this one ? Am I correct in thinking I'm going to have to try and get that darn glass case lined up in the shot ? . This is taken looking through one window , across an aisle and looking through the next window .
