I think Canon is more clever then Pentax. What Canon dose is releasing new models with higher prices instead of increasing the prices of existing models. At least, people do not complain.

If you ask me, people don't realise how lucky they've been so far with all these "rebates"; over here things like that are almost completely unheard of.

EDIT: Don't know if anyone else noticed this, but none of the FA lenses went up in price... la la la.
Sure, the fa limited lenses remain the same prices. But does is mean there is no FF plan of Pentax?

BTW I am not happy with this, because i own some FA lenses. They are just increasing the price of every lens I want to buy whereas for the lens I have, they just remain the old price.

Would that the the April Fool K-3 I wonder?

Be great if it really was a K-5 clone with a full frame sensor. I feel sure Pentax could do that.

John
What I heard about is there will be a k-3, but still with apsc sensor---the 24.3 MP one on the sony nex 7.

The prices are closer to the UK and European prices now. Apparently it is due to Pentax restricting the discounts that can be offered on lenses.

There seems to be a lot of fallout from this on the US-centric sites (i.e. the one you linked to above and DPReview). Lots of people indignant about the increases and threatening to leave Pentax. Similar to the talk in the UK when the prices rose.

I would imagine this will eliminate some of the grey import market and make it less tempting to buy any expensive gear while you are holidaying in the US.

Could ultimately be damaging to Pentax if people make good their threats and stop buying Pentax. Could be good for us though if it increases Pentax's profits without increasing our prices

I wonder if they are going to increase the prices in uk afterwards.

Just read the following news. Is there some one can confirm the credibility of it?

I was hoping Ricoh to reduce the prices of glasses that were increased by Hoya. It seems like I was wrong.

As much as we wish this were also an April Fool's joke, the Pentax USA pricing policy change we announced last week now seems to be in full effect at online stores in the US. Authorized dealers such as B&H Photo, Adorama, Abe's of Maine, and even Amazon are now selling the Pentax K-5 at the minimum advertised price of $1099. While this is higher than last week's $989, it's actually $100 below the price that the K-5 was sold earlier this year ($1199). More importantly, however, it seems prices on most Pentax lenses have unfortunately also gone up to full MSRP. Full details on this are found later in the article.

Remember that prices vary between countries, however, and if you want to score some of the best deals on Pentax gear, we invite you to browse our second-hand Pentax Marketplace.
April Rebates

Now, even though Pentax lens pricing may have gone up, this doesn't mean that there aren't any good deals to be found! Both Sigma and Tamron have launched new instant rebates this month on some of their most popular lenses for Pentax:
Sigma 70-200mm F2.8: $100 off
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8: $75 off

Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro: $50 off
(see also our in-depth review)
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8: $25 off
Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5: $50 off
(see also our in-depth review)

Ironically, the Sigma 70-200mm is now cheaper than the Pentax DA* 50-135mm, as is the Sigma 17-50mm compared to the Penta DA* 16-50mm.
Side-By-Side Lens Price Comparison

Last week, we took a moment to note the old prices of all Pentax lenses in order to compare them to the current ones. The changes are outlined in the table below. In general, prices for all current DA lenses went up by 15-90%, and this sort of a restriction on retailers is a first for Pentax. We hope that future product announcements or business decisions justify this new policy!

DA* 60-250mm $1295.95 $1999.95

More information about new and used price trends for all of the above lenses can be found in our Pentax Lens Database. In order to counteract these price increases, we are sure Pentax will be launching some sort of rebate program in the near future.

Here for sale is my very much loved Pentax FA 77mm F/1.8 limited lens. The lens is black and made in Japan.

I own it from new about two (or 3?) years ago and did not use very much.

The lens is in very new condition and glass is perfect without any scratches. The inside is perfect as well.

The lens comes with lens caps, all the original packaging and a UV filter. There is a "7 years warranty contract" as well, but I do not know if you can still use it.

I will sell it £550, free shipping in UK (RM 1st class signed for). Paypal is preferred or you can use bank transfer.

Anyone who is interested in the lens please feel free to send me messages.

Thank you for looking.

I am sorry I had to take the photos with my mobile phone.
