Thanks K10D I knew I'd learn something today!

K10D When I say 100 - I probably delete 99%, takes a whole lot longer to delete than to take. LOL Maybe I'll learn to discern good or bad before I start snapping away. I'm having fun though. About out the door now to go to Smoky Mountains, only a short drive.

K10D - they actually get along very well and most of the time will "pose". Gracie, the cat, happened to be yawning bored with me probably. Abby the dog will sit anytime and will look at the camera even with the flash.

Weldingblues - yes she's a papillon and has all the traits of the breed, she's a great little dog.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am so new and really don't know what I'm doing but I want to learn. I'm taking like 100 shots a day but only about 2 or 3 are really good.

I am very new to photography, so please bear with me. I have a K-x with the kits lens, but I also have 2 old lenses (SMC Pentax-M 1:2 50mm and QTII auto zoom 1:40-5.6 f=70-210mm) that my son had with a K1000. Do I need an adapter or can I use settings in K-x to use these lenses? Like I said, I'm new, so please be patient with the simple questions.

Hi everyone - I'm sure some of my friends think I've gone crazy. At 61, I decided I want a productive hobby, so for Christmas I asked my sons to get me a camera. With that said, I had my choice. Again, they said Pentax? why - why not Canon? Don't know, but I'm sure I want a Pentax. So I received a red Pentax K-x. I've started taking a few flower, animal, people pics, so I'm started, right? I know it will take a long time to learn, but I'm willing so I will be reading as many posts as possible. If there is any advice out there, it is surely welcomed. I live in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee so there are numerous wildlife and wild flowers. thanks everyone for reading and your future help.
