I purchased this from John and it was exactly as described, was dispatched very quickly and if every trade was this good, life would be so much easier. Thanks.

I have just picked up this thread I am glad I did as I have a bettery drain problem, so now I can fix it.

It is strange how we can get attatched to cameras, as I certainly feel an affinity with mine. I brought it new in 1978 and with the winder it cost me £299, which was a great deal of money for me back then. God knows what that would be worth today, over a £1000 I would think. It was not my first SLR, I had a Practica Nova PL 1 and a Practica PLC 2 before, but it has stayed with me even after my foray into auto everything (MZ50). I hardly use it at all, and have often thought of selling it, but I do not really think I could part with it. I guess it is the camera which gave me most of my photographic memories, especially when my kids were young.

Anyway hefty 1, the thread was great to read, the images excellent and it has inspired me to get some slide film and hit the road.

Time to clear out some stuff I rarely use and to fund a few purchases for things I will.

Sigma PKA 400 f5.6 MC with Hoya 72mm 1b filter, front and rear caps. I don't use this much as I have K 300 which does my long work, but it does give pleasing results. The lens itself is in really good condition both cosmetically and mechanically, stops down well, no fungus, no oil on the blades and very little dust. It has a rotating tripod collar and of course the A contacts. I have had this one in the classified section before and have had loads of scammers so serious buyers only.

SMC M 80-200 4.5 zoom with front and rear caps and non original hard case. I don't use this at all since I got an A 70-210, but again in really good condition both cosmetically and optically. Takes great images and as I have had it for many years will be sorry to see it go.

I am open to offers for these, and any inspection is welcome. Can supply pics if needed.

Will go on the bay if no takers.

Thanks

I have just purchased one of these, with a 01f t/c on the bay and having run off some test shots I am very disappointed with the results, which are very "fuzzy" and lacking in sharpness. Colour rendition and contrast seem ok. I have a Tokina RMC 300, which I was hoping to sell after buying this one, which is much sharper. It has been my assumption that this SP series lens was of good quality, and I would certainly have expected to outperform the Tokina. In fact I had hoped it would be close to my SMC K 300. I have never used the Adaptall system but the mount appears to go on and off ok so I don't think this is the issue. Does anybody have any thoughts as to what might be wrong. The seller has offered to have it back
with a full refund but I would like to keep it if possible.

Thanks for the heads up.

It says postage $AU80, and if there is anything wrong and needs to be sent back so same again. Would rather buy closer to home, but in no real hurry (who am I kidding!).

Tokina SD 400mm 5.6 or Sigma APO 400mm 5.6, preferably in PKA mount. Cosmetic condition not important but must be optically and mechanically excellent.

I have had the Takumar A version for several years, and all I can say is if anyone wants it, the cost of posting is all it will take!
