Mannesty that link hit it on the money. Was a windows thing and has nothing to do with unchecking the read only box since it wasn't checked to begin with. The same problem happens weather I use the camera or a card reader. I like using the camera better because I am using an older card at the moment so it isn't a high speed one and the transfers are quicker from the camera rather than my card reader.

Lately I seem to be having a little difficulty transfering pictures off of my camera to my computer. For some reason the files that are transfered to my computer are read only files. This means I can't even rotate and resave them. The only way to get rid of it seems to be to take them into photoshop and resave them from there, but that is a huge hassle.

I typically use a card reader to transfer the images or just plug the camera in and copy and paste. I thought this might be my problem so I tried using the supplied software which I have updated to the latest version. Still no luck. It is not every photo that has this read only thing just a random few.

Hopefully someone can point me in a direction of where I am screwing up. I am kinda dissappointed that I can't figure this out on my own because I am pretty good with computers.

Thanks all,
Luke

I have an ist-DL that takes great pictures. I was curious as to how many people are disaipointed with the lowest ISO/ASA setting being 200. I didn't notice this when I was buying the camera but wish it went down to at least 100 speed if not lower. Makes for some grainy night shots. How you you compenate.

all my lenses are SMC apart from the 18~55 which came with the *istdl and you can switch the digital camera to use an aprature ring on m series lenses

you get more control with A series lenses as i have me supers and super As as well as *ist digital models
Your kit lens isn't an SMC. My ist-DL came with an SMC lens. I did the same thing tho. I set my DL to use an apperature ring and use all of my lenses that I had for my ME-Super. Works great but a split ring focus would be much nicer. And metering is no where as easy as the ME

looks great. Black and white 35 owns me! I wish my super was still capable of that (needs cleaning and seals).

Old post but auto winder for my super does the same thing. I think batteries leaked in it at some point and screwed it up. Took it apart once to try to clean it but had no luck fixing it.
